Amber Ezeani…
Amber Ezeani, our campus and parish youth minister, will be leaving our staff this week. While I’m disappointed, I also understand and respect the reason Amber is stepping away. Amber is resigning in order to focus on her own family. Amber and her husband Sel have three children under the age of 5 and Amber is expecting another child in the spring. Because the position of Campus and Youth Minister requires a great deal of flexibility and time Amber realizes that at this time in her life she is limited, needless to say, in both time and flexibility.
Amber has done an incredible job breathing life into our campus ministry program and has been engaged with the parish’s students. Most of the parish has seen or read in the bulletin the great things she’s accomplished; engaging the students in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other. She has established a foundation upon which our campus ministry program is being built. She has not only planned youth ministry activities but was spearheading a different approach to teaching high school students in our Faith Formation Program.
Yes, Amber will be missed, however I’m encouraged with the fact that we have very dedicated parents, parishioners, FOCUS missionaries and staff that are committed to continue to continue to grow our ministry to both BSU students and our own parish youth.
There will be a reception to express our appreciation to Amber on Sunday, November 17 after the 10 a.m. Mass at St. Basil’s Chapel.
Omnes Gentes Talks…
During this weekend after all Masses, a seminarian will be giving a brief talk on his vocation….. how he is discerning the Lord’s call for him to study for the priesthood. Maxwell Chukwudiebere, Ryan O'Connell and Brian Daley will be speaking at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Rodrigo Martinez, Alwin Chinnappan, James Muscatella and our own seminarian, David Campo will be at St. Basil's. It’s encouraging to see young men who love the Lord and want to serve Him and the Church during this often challenging times. These seminarians will be available after Mass for us to personally welcome them, encourage them and pray for them.
