JaganNath Institute of Management Sciences, Rohini Placement Department GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER TRAINING & PROJECT REPORT FOR BBA and BCAM (Semester IV) Students Only Summer Training is a major part of the Course Curriculum of BBA and BCAM at JIMS. The project report & presentation prepared on the basis of your Summer Training carries 100 marks as a part of University criteria in the final semester. If any student fails to undergo Summer Training and do not submit project report they will not be able to clear their papers in Final Year University Exams. INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS: 1. It is compulsory for each and every student to undergo Summer Training. 2. Summer Training takes place at the end of Semester IV. 3. The duration of Summer Training is 6-8 weeks (2 months) between May to July. 4. The organization for Summer Training should be a recognized firm (Private Ltd. Or Public Ltd.). 5. A Summer Training Certificate is issued at the end of the training period by the organization. 6. Students willing to undergo Summer Training in an organization with their own effort are required to submit a photocopy of their appointment letter on the Company’s Letterhead before April 15, 2009 to the placement department. 7. If a student is once selected in an organization through the Institute, he/ she should join the firm. They will not be allowed to undergo further interviews. 8. If a student is not interested to join an organization, once selected through the Institute, they should have to join an organization on their own. 9. Please do not take up IRDA examination (if any) conducted by the organization . If a student is interested to undergo IRDA examination through the organization; the Institute will not be responsible for any consequential disorders. 10. If a student is facing any problem during their Summer Training in the organization arranged by the Placement Department, he/ she is required to submit a written application letter to the Placement Department regarding the same. Verbal notations will not be entertained. 11. Formal dress code has to be maintained during the entire period of Summer Training in an organization. 12. All the students are required to report to their respective Training Supervisor in the organization appointed to them on time. 13. Instructions/ Assignments given by company officials should be strictly adhered. Any non-compliance would amount suspension of the candidate from the Institute till further notice. 14. 100% attendance should be maintained during the Summer Training. Certificates will not be issued to non- serious candidates and consequently they will not be able to submit their Project Report . 15. Students will be divided into groups and each group will be assigned a faculty incharge for support & guidance. Each student is required to: a. Keep continuous interactions with Faculty Incharge regarding the Project proceedings. b. Report once in a week to your Faculty Incharge personally. ……….continued

16. The project t i t le can be conf irmed with your Training Supervisor or Faculty Incharge. Proper data is to be col lected according to your report during the training period itsel f.

17. Students are required to prepare their project report during the training period i tself . Compile and draft the project report and get i t approved by your faculty incharge before binding.

18. Your project report should be unique with respect to t it le, project content and project layout. No two project report of any students should be identical , in any case, as this may lead to the cancel lat ion of your project report by the Universi ty.

19. A presentation related with your Summer Training & Project Report is to be prepared.

20. The Project Report after the last date of submission wi l l not be accepted.

21. Please check the website regular ly for updations.

SUMMER TRAINING CERTIFICATE

1. Summer Training Cert i f icate has to be on an original letterhead. Scanned certi f icates wi l l

be rejected.

2. The letterhead should bear the name of the Company, Logo, Address and Contact Detai ls

and should be on executive bond paper with good thickness.

3. The training certificate should be signed by the Training Supervisor with his/her stamp/ company’s stamp and

not by any other person e.g., HR Head or any HOD of the company.

4. Signature should be original and not scanned.

5. The Training certificate should have the name and designation of the Training Supervisor and not merely

Authorized Signatory.

6. The certificate should carry the title “To whomsoever it may concern” or should be addressed to the “The

Suptd, Name of University, Place”.

7. The duration to be mentioned on the Summer Training certificate should be between July 20 – September 14,

FOR BBA and BCAM (Semester IV) Students Only GENERAL INFORMATION TO BE COLLECTED BY STUDENTS DURING SUMMER TARINING

Along with the data regarding the topic, following general information is to be collected by students undergoing in–company or in–plant training irrespective of their functional areas / topic, etc.

1. Sales performance for last five years ( Product wise if possible )

a) In Units b) In Rupees

2. Number of Employees, different section-wise with due classification like skilled, semi – skilled, unskilled

worker, officers, managers, etc.

3. Photograph (s) in the organization, while discussing with officer of the company if possible.

4. Organizational charts ( with Explanation )

5. Annual Reports for last 5 years.

6. Historical background of the company.

7. Future plans of the company.

8. Product, literature, photographs of the products, technical details, etc.

9. List of competitors.

10. Other relevant information such as future plans, export strategy, market share of comparative area of operation, etc.

Students are also advised to buy a book on the industry under study, for example, if a student is undergoing summer training in a textile industry, he/she can refer books on topics related to “Textile Industry in India”. Such book may help the students to have deep insight of the industry and its problems.

of project and gives good impression to Viva committee as well as the organization, where in student is placed for

Summer Training and he / she has done extensive review and survey pertaining to project.

In this chapter primary data is collected through Questionnaires, Observation, Inspection of records, Interviews

conducted and / or secondary data collected from published records be systematically analyzed and tables, graphs,

diagrams also are used wherever necessary to present the data. Every table / data should be followed by suitable

interpretation.
