ONE FATHER in Heaven.
You have but
-Matthew 23:9
A MESSAGE FROM FATHER PAT Dear St. Pius X Community,
We have started an interes ng me in the Church year. As we focus on end mes, we start the month with All Saints and All Souls day. We look to our mortality and our prepara on for our own deaths. I like that we start with All Saints. We are all called to heaven, all called to a saintly life. Our challenge is how to live that in our current world. A er the good news of All Saints, we have All Souls to remind us of just that fact. We are called to sainthood and truly the purpose of this world is for us to get there. It isn’t just about each of us, it is about all of us together. This is not an individual journey, it is a community or communal process. We receive communion together to show our unity, not just with those in this world, but with those throughout the en re Church as we strive to realize our call to sainthood. We can’t get there alone.
What a great Halloween Carnival. We had a blast. Thanks to all who worked to get things ready and to all those that stayed a er to clean up. We were finished hours before we were last year. THANKS! My best part, was all the different groups that were there. The PTC sponsored it, but there were neighborhood people, people from all parts of the parish and lots of alumni. Thanks to all that made it happen.
We have our next movie night on the 11th. The movie this month is “The Emperor’s New Groove.” If it is cold, we will have hot chocolate and if I can get some fire pits we will have fires around the infield. It will be great! If you have a portable fire pit chimenea that you would want to bring for the night let me know!
We have a great start with the On the Way - ¡Ándale! Campaign. That said, we s ll have a pre y substan al amount to raise. You don’t have to pay now, you can pay when it works best for you, but I would love to get all the pledges in and put this in the completed column and get the plans for the Kitchen in the Family Center underway.
In Him, Fr. Pat
Thank you to all who a ended this year’s fes val. It was a great success! We are s ll finalizing the reports for income and expenses and hope to have a grand total for you soon.
Congratula ons to the winners of the St. Pius X Fes val Raffle!

MASS IN THE EXTRAORDINARY FORM
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 SCRIPTURES
First Reading - Do we not have one father? Did not the one God create us? (Malachi 1:14b — 2:2b, 8-10).
Psalm - In you, Lord, I have found my peace (Psalm 131).
Second Reading - You have received not a human word but the word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:7b-9, 13).
Gospel - Call no one your father on earth; you have but one Father, the one in heaven (Ma hew 23:1-12).
Hello Everyone!
Hopefully you find yourselves well and ge ng ready to welcome November with a lot of enthusiasm. This is a month which brings a lot things. It brings memories because we just celebrated All Souls Day. In it we prayed for our beloved ones; people who were good to us and loved us. Our parents, our closest friends, or somebody to whom we felt a special connec on and why not for people who harmed us, and now are gone, and our prayers help them to get the glory of God.
We thank God for the many talents He gave them while s ll with us. The farewell liturgy of the dead says, “They are signs to us of your goodness and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ. Thank you God for the blessings which you bestowed upon them on this life.”
Also, on All Saints Day we remembered our spiritual companions. People who share with God an unimagina-ble companionship. Since we give honor to God and nobody else, we can fall into a tempta on to diminish our apprecia on for the life and works of so many men and women who devoted themselves in special ways to Christ. We might say their lives are not similar to mine, or it doesn't make sense to see what they did connected with my life or they lived so long ago from my meline that I feel unconnected with them. All of it might be right. I think they felt the same way, since all of them felt challenged in their own lives by the only one who can make us saints, Christ. If we see it like that, surely that sainthood reality is not my thing. Here it is!
Every saint’s life talks about a specific meline of the history of the church that was challenged and changed by the very ac on of those men and women. Now it is our turn to get challenged and look forward to seeing God’s ac on in our life. In the mean me we need to look back and delve in to the life of the saints to see how they did it; what they had to endure, what compelled them to do it, and on which things they excelled the most. Those will be teachings for us in our spiritual journey. Then by look-ing at them this way we are giving them the right place in church venera on; the Dulía Cult.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COATS FOR KIDS PROJECT
When families struggle to clothe their children with warm coats in the winter, The Knights of Columbus Councils help meet this basic need.
Knight’s of Columbus Council 4298 is collecting donations for our Coats for Kids Program.
Did you know many children throughout the United States and Canada go without a coat each winter? Many low-income families use their scarce resources to meet the most basic essentials and they need help to provide this vital winter necessity.
That’s why the Knights of Columbus developed the Coats for Kids Program, which allows councils across North America the opportunity to purchase new winter coats for children at a discount and to distribute them to children in need in their local communities.
Your donation will help keep children warm. Please help us provide coats for kids. Knight’s of Columbus Council 4298, 8819 Oak Ledge Dr, San Antonio, TX 78214-5808. Make checks payable to: Knight’s of Columbus Council 4298
