MARRIAGE: UNIQUE FOR A REASON : Marriage is under attack here in Maryland. This spring, our state legislature passed and our Governor signed a bill to redefine marriage. The Bishops’ Conference has come up with a wonderful resource – ‘Marriage: Unique for a Reason’ - to lay out the Church’s beautiful teaching on marriage and answer questions such as – What is marriage? Are a man and a woman really essential to marriage? What about the child & the role of mothers and fathers? What impact does the redefinition of marriage have on religious liberty? These are just a few of the many questions about marriage today. They all hinge upon the first question: What is marriage? To view the answers to these questions, please check out the Catholic Bishops’ web site www.marriageuniqueforareason.org HELLO, IT’S GOD CALLING. ARE YOU THERE? HELLO, YES, I’M HERE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AN ALTAR SERVER FOR ME? Being an altar server is an important ministry at St Peter’s. You serve at the Lord’s table. It is a privilege and honor to be able to serve. Requirements: You must be in the 5th Grade. You must be able to be reverent at the altar. You must be able to serve at any of the weekend Masses: 5:30 pm on Saturdays and 7:15, 9:00, and 11:30 am Masses on Sunday. THE FLOWER MINISTRY would like to thank all of those that helped make our 3rd Annual Garden Tea Party such a huge success. A special thank you goes to all of our guests who helped us raise $3500 to be used during the coming year to beautify our church with flowers for the glory of God. All of this could not have happened wit5hout the help of, not only, our Flower Ministry members, but also the “men in black” Knights who escorted our guests and helped serve; the Confirmantees who helped serve; the ladies from the Thrift Shop & Ladies Club and husbands that helped in the kitchen; the “guest hostesses” who set tables; our money collector; the brave ladies who presented the program and all those who generously donated items to the silent auction. This is a collective project which involves all of our members…A bit shout-out of thanks to all!!! SIR KNIGHTS vs LADIES CLUB CHILI & DEVILED EGG COOK-OFF: The Sir Knights of Columbus, would like to thank the Ladies Club, Brother Knights, and the Parishioners of St. Peters for the great support of our first Chili Cook-Off. About 80 guests joined us to taste-test a spread of 16 Chilies and 9 different Deviled-Egg recipes. Voting for favorites resulted in a Tie for the Best Chili between Joan Norcross of the Ladies Club and Nick DiSipio from the Knights, each receiving 9 votes for favorite recipe. On a "TEAM" basis, the Knights' 9 chili pots received 49 votes for favorite while the Ladies 7 pots received 22. The best deviled egg recipe was "no contest" with eggs by Helen Peddicord, of the Ladies Club, the all out winner. A special Thank You to Mary Rash, President of the Ladies Club, for her enthusiastic support of the project, her ladies' decorations & especially for her beautiful gift basket that was raffled off and won by Judy Smarsh. A big thanks to all the ladies for their outstandingly delicious desserts that would rival any pastry kitchen in the area. Thanks to all who helped! PARISH NURSE NOTES: Walking trails at our doorstep Did you know that many of our local parks offer hiking/walking trails? We are so lucky to live in a county with diverse areas to explore. Libertytown Park has an unpaved 2.4 mile trail. Kemptown has an unpaved 0.4 mile trail One of the newest county parks, Utica has a 1.1 mile paved trail. Walkersville Heritage Park has paved trails of over 2 miles – some by the creek, some around the golf course and around the meadows. We need to take advantage of these resources so close at hand! Did you ever consider praying while you walk? It is easy and a great way to feel closer to the Lord! ON VACATION? Need help locating Churches & Mass Times? www.masstimes.org.

Maybe it clearly was one of you, but more often it’s a combination of misunderstanding, forgetting to do something, and spouses having different ex-pectations.
