ATTENTION LADIES, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We ask you to please blot your lipstick before receiving the Precious Blood of Christ. Our Purificators are being stained by lipstick wiped off of the cups and they cannot be reused once stained. The Purificators are generously donated by 2 parishioners and are washed and ironed by a very small group of very dedicated women. These women presoak, treat lipstick stains, wash and iron anywhere from 30 to 40 Purificators per week. It is a tremendous job and could be so much easier if the lipstick stains were not such a problem. Please consider our request when you get dressed for Mass.

MASS SCHEDULE FOR THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY

The schedule for Masses for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation, is as follows: Tuesday, August 14 at 7 PM in English Wednesday, August 15 – in English at 8:30 AM and 12:15 PM; in Spanish at 7 PM

Looking ahead

Instructional Masses Have you wondered why the Mass is structured in the way we celebrate it today? Or why the celebrant wears those particular items of clothing? Or how the readings from the Bible are chosen? Or why some parts of the Mass are the same every week and others change? One Sunday each month we will highlight one piece of the Mass. The celebrant will take a few moments to explain the “who, what and why” of a particular action. This will take place at all the Masses. There will also be a handout inserted in the bulletin which will have material for children and adults. The first Instructional Masses will take place the weekend of August 25/26. After the 9 AM Mass, there will be a “Welcome Back” brunch hosted by the Pastoral Staff as we give thanks for the blessing of our wonderful parishioners and kick off another school year!

Training of NEW Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)

Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are those who assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at daily and weekend Masses. On Saturday, October 6th, there will be an all-day training program for those interested in serving. Please contact Joyce Lubofsky for further info about this ministry.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word At the 9 AM Mass on the first Sunday each month from October through May, we will offer a Children’s Liturgy of the Word. After the Opening Prayer, students in Kindergarten – 5th grade will be invited to follow their catechists to Founders’ Hall where the readings of the Mass will be proclaimed on a level appropriate to their understanding. There will be activities to correspond to the readings. The children will return to the Church before the Offertory.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

This is your Last Weekend to Sign Up for Supper Club

Enjoying a delicious meal and getting to know fellow parishioner is a perfect way to spend an evening, and you can do it when you sign up to participate in St. Paul’s Dinner Club. The clubs are open to all adult parishioners--single, married, divorced, or widowed. A kick-off potluck for all participants is scheduled for Saturday, August 25. The sign-up sheet is in the narthex by the Alpha Delta room.

Gathering Place Turns 11 Happy 11th birthday to the Gathering Place, our free monthly program for people who have Alzheimer’s. In its 11 years, this ministry has served 173 individuals and volunteers have logged 12,750 hours or service! We also want to thank BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse for donating a delicious celebratory luncheon for our attendees this month.

Legion of Mary Seeks New Members Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, serve the Church and neighbors on a voluntary basis. The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active cooperation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The group meets weekly for prayer and discussion on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 PM in Room 1. Members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospital, and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary. For more information, contact Maria Lorenzo at 832.814.8248.

To access your free subscription, go to FORMED.org and use our custom URL (stpaulcatholic.formed.org) to get immediate access.
