OUR PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Faith Community, Baptized into Jesus Christ, formed by Word and Sacrament, and Empowered by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Seek to be a visible sign of God’s love. We seek to build the Kingdom of God by: Using our unique gifts to minister to one another, Welcoming all and caring for those in need, Teaching our faith to others and Uniting in worship as a family with the Body of Christ.
Dear Holy People of God:
The parable of the sower has been explained many times: in different forms, styles, images and meta-phors. Today, I would like to offer my spiritual reflections on the following:
SEEDS ON THE PATHWAY… They’re hearers of God’s Word, but didn’t internalize it, so they become drifters, just following the path with no directions in life, and therefore restless. But Jesus didn’t abandon them, he offered his divine direction and said: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” (Jn 14:6) Let’s follow him, and bring along with us the drifters. They might embrace God’s Word as their beckon light to eternal life.
SEEDS ON ROCKS… They’re are hearts as hard as stones. God’s Word can’t penetrate them. These stone-hearts are devoid of love. But Jesus sees hope in every hardened heart. That hope is “conversion.” In their path of “conversion,” he tells them, “I’ll remove the stone heart from you and place a new spirit within you.” (Ez 36:26) For us, with tone-hearts, “conversion” is what we need to become the “corner stone” of God’s kingdom.
SEEDS ON THORNS… They’re hearts fenced with thorns. They pricked away God’s Word. People with thorny hearts are back stab-bers, and they need pruning. Jesus said, “… every branch that is pruned bears much fruit. I am the vine, you are the branches… without me, you can do nothing” (Jn 15:2,5) Let’s allow our thorny hearts be pruned, and be attached to Jesus again – and we will become “visible signs of God’s love!”
SEEDS ON RICH SOIL… They’re hearts that welcome God’s Word with love. A love which produces WORDS that are rich in mercy, overflowing with forgiveness, and exploding with welcoming and hospitality. In short, the heart-rich-soil becomes the garden of love, where saints are harvested.
Now, immersed in these challenging times of COVID-19, let’s cultivate our hearts to be the rich-soil-sacred-dwellings of God’s Word. And God’s Word changes us to be the best version of ourselves; that is: our eyes see the best in the drifters; our hearts forgive the back stabbers, and our ears become bionic ears and listen to the stone-hearts, and with understanding melts them to become hearts of love.
So, when you go home today, go in front of the mirror and ask yourself:
WHO AM I? Am I the seeds on the pathway? Or the seeds on solid rock? Or the seeds on thorns? Or the seeds that fell on rich oil?
Whatever you discover, please do your best to reconstruct your hearts to be the rich soil in producing good seeds for the next sowing, and for the next generation!
Blessings,
Fr. Romy, Seleccion, MS, Pastor

The 2020 Schedule of Mass Intentions for the month of August will be available in Maher Hall this Wednesday, July 15th at 8:30 a.m.
Thank you for your cooperation!!
1. Reminder - Obtaining Tickets for Mass
To make it easier to obtain a “ticket” for Mass, and to avoid getting a ticket for the wrong parish, please make sure you go directly to our website: www.sptacc.org and follow the instructions.
2. Please Update your Mass Tickets
If for some reason your plans change at the last minute and you will not be able to attend a Mass for which you already have tickets, please be sure to go through our parish website and “CANCEL” your ticket(s). That way, someone else can obtain a ticket through our parish website. We do have a large number of people who “wait” at the door to see if anyone is cancelling their ticket(s), so that they can attend the Mass.
ATTENTION . . .ATTENTION!!

Attention: Bulletin Editor
PRAYER IN THE PRESENCE OF the BLESSED SACRAMENT
We are grateful for those who have responded to our call for additional Internal Guidance Ministers (IGMs). Because of your willingness to be of service to the wider community, we are now able to begin the process of reopening the Eucharistic Chapel.
Beginning Friday, July 17th, we will begin a slow reopening of the Eucharistic Chapel. At this time, we will open the Chapel for personal prayer time on Fridays only. It is our hope that many more parishioners will be able to come forward and assist as IGMs, so that we can expand the availability of the Chapel to other days of the week.
In order to maintain the numbers allowed for this space (just as we are currently doing for the week-end and weekday Masses), we will be using EventBrite (which can be accessed through our parish website: www.sptacc.org), in order to reserve your seating space in the Chapel.
The Eucharistic Chapel will be limited by time and space restrictions. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed a 20 minute time frame in the Chapel. These restrictions of time and space will allow for approximately 100 people to make a prayer visit over the course of the day, and provide adequate time to clean and sanitize the space between the designated availability times). Groups of more than 10, should contact Fr. Mike to see what arrangements can be made at this time.
Once again, I want to thank everyone for your patience and prayers as we move through these challenging days. Also, a heartfelt ‘Thank you” to the Internal Guidance Minsters (IGMs), for your dedication and service to God’s people here at St. Paul the Apostle. Without you and your ministry, we would not be able to keep moving forward.
God bless you!
Fr. Mike

W hen we hear the para-ble of the sower and
seed, it can be easy to assume it is meant for someone else. After all, we are good soil, right?
This week we are challenged to look a bit more deeply at our own lives and assess just what kind of soil we really are. All too often, many things like sin, busyness, worry, work, and other activities keep us from receiving fully the teach-ings of Christ. Our initial excitement and enthusiasm for the Gospel can give way to a sort of dull acceptance. The good seed that was sown in our lives can begin to wither and die. The soil of our lives isn’t all that good.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. God, the Divine Sower, is always willing to sow new seeds in our lives. However, just as a lot of work goes into preparing—and tending—the soil of an actual garden, so too we have to make sure that the soil of our souls is pre-pared and cared for so that we can be in the right frame of
mind and heart to receive the Word of God in new and deeper ways, now and for the rest of our lives.
D IGGING DEEPER FOR ISCUSSION: FORMED
members can watch the short “Opening the Word “VIDEO free at sptacc.formed.org Reflect on these following questions with a friend or family:
• According to the video, why must we be “ready soil” to receive the Word of God?
• Why do you think that Je-sus told this parable to the crowd? Why did he tell it to his disciple?
P RAYER: Are you a hard path, where the birds of
doubt devour the seed of faith as soon as it is sown? Do you have in your soul some rocky ground, where the seed of good works sprouts quickly but soon withers under trial or suffering? Do you have in your soul some thorny soil, in which material possessions and worldly concerns choke off good intentions as soon as they come to you? Or do you have rich soil, ready and
willing to accept the Word of the Lord and let it take root to transform your entire life? Now ask Jesus, the Divine Gardener, to help you prepare the soil of your heart and mind in a way that will produce abundant fruit.
R ESOLUTION: If the soil of your life isn’t the way you
would like it to be, prayerfully ask the Lord about one thing you can do to till the hardness of doubt, remove the rocks of sin, or pull out the thorns of worry and materialism. And then ask God to give you the grace to follow through on this intention this week.

The Soil of Our LIVES
