O n the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, Jesus' disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?" He sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him. Wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"' Then he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there." The disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover. While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." Then, after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

E l primer día de la fiesta de los panes Acimos, cuando se inmolaba la víctima pascual, los discípulos dijeron a Jesús: "¿Dónde quieres que vayamos a prepararte la comida pascu-al?". El envió a dos de sus discípulos, diciéndoles: "Vayan a la ciu-dad; allí se encontrarán con un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo, y díganle al dueño de la casa donde entre: El Maestro dice: '¿Dónde está mi sala, en la que voy a comer el cordero pascual con mis discípulos?'. El les mostrará en el piso alto una pieza grande, arreglada con almohadones y ya dispuesta; prepárennos allí lo necesario". Los discípulos partieron y, al llegar a la ciudad, encontraron to-do como Jesús les había dicho y prepararon la Pascua. Mientras comían, Jesús tomó el pan, pronunció la bendición, lo partió y lo dio a sus discípulos, diciendo: "Tomen, esto es mi Cuerpo". Después tomó una copa, dio gracias y se la entregó, y todos bebieron de ella. Y les dijo: "Esta es mi Sangre, la Sangre de la Alianza, que se derrama por muchos. Les aseguro que no beberé más del fruto de la vid hasta el día en que beba el vino nuevo en el Reino de Dios". Después del canto de los Salmos, salieron hacia el monte de los Olivos.

«Dios se da El mismo como comida»

Para tener una idea de nuestra dignidad, debemos recordar a menudo el cielo, el cal-vario y el infierno. Si comprendemos lo que significa ser hijo de Dios, no podríamos hacer el mal, seríamos como ángeles sobre la tierra. Ser hijo de Dios ¡qué dignidad! Cuando los ángeles se rebelaron contra Dios, ese Dios tan bueno, viendo que ya no podían gozar de la felicidad para la cual habían sido creados, hizo al hombre y ese pequeño mundo que vemos para alimentar su cuerpo. Pero era necesario también alimen-tar su alma; y como nada de lo que había sido creado puede alimentar el alma que es un espíritu, Dios quiso darse Él mismo como comida. Pero la gran desgracia es que somos negligentes y no recorremos a este divino Alimen-to, para atravesar el desierto de esta vida. Así como una persona que muere de hambre al lado de una mesa llena de comida, del mismo modo hay quienes se quedan cincuenta, sesenta años sin alimentar su alma. Si los cristianos pudieran comprender este lenguaje de nuestro Señor que les dice: «Pese a tu miseria, Quiero ver de cerca esta bella alma que he creado para Mi. La he hecho tan grande que solamente Yo puedo llenarla. La he hecho tan pura que solamente mi cuer-po puede alimentarla.»

To get an idea of our dignity, we must often remember Heaven, Calvary and Hell. made it so great that only I can fill it. I have made it so pure that only my body can nour-

ish it"
