Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fast-ing and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

For members of the Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concern-ing abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

St. Paul Parish !

On the weekend of March 18th

and 19th

our parish will be par�cipa�ng in the Dignity U Wear

“Drop your Drawers” underwear drive. Dignity U Wear is a non!profit founded by a holocaust

survivor that provides new clothing to at risk adults and students in the Jacksonville area en-

suring that they will have clean, new apparel for job interviews and school func�ons. We have

been asked to provide packages of boys’ underwear in any size and variety. Boxes will be

placed in the ves�bule for collec�on. Please help a local charity that is making a difference in

the lives of needy Jacksonville youths by “dropping your drawers” in the collec�on boxes. This is a parish

project sponsored by St. Paul’s Guild. �

There has been a slight change in our Lenten Fish Fry on Friday, March 17th. @6:30PM.�

The Knight of Columbus has received Special permission from the Bishops Estévez to hold their

annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner. Those of you that have a:ended this event in the past know what a

great event it is. Those of you that may not have a:uned this event, mark your calendars NOW

and join the Knights for some fun, food and fellowship at its best!! Don’t forget to wear your

GREEN! See You There!!!�

St. Paul will be taking part of the procession at the

Eucharis*c Congress on March 25th along with all

the other Catholic Churches from the Diocese.!

Our school children will be singing in the choir and

St. Paul will be processing in with our St. Paul’s

banner. We would like to have a good representa-

*on of our St. Paul's Parish. Please come and join

us. We will meet at the Prime Osborn at 7:30am.

Baptism Classes

Parents/guardians wan�ng to have their baby bap�zed will first

need to a�end a Bap�sm class, which are held the First Saturday of

every month at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Registra�on is required to

a�end the class. Bap�sm for your child cannot be scheduled un�l

you have completed the bap�sm class. Call the Parish Office at 387�

2554 for more informa�on or to register. Baptism

Bap�sms at St. Paul Catholic Church are scheduled the 2nd or 4th

Sunday of each month a1er the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Please contact the

parish office for scheduling your bap�sm. Bap�sms on other Sun-

days can be arranged by calling the parish office at 904�387�2554.!

Marriage Preparation

To schedule a wedding, an engaged couple must meet with their

parish priest or deacon at least 8 months before the proposed wed-

ding date. Preparation for the sacrament includes attending a

diocesan program, such as Engaged Encounter or Pre-Cana, and

completing the FOCCUS inventory. All couples of child-bearing

age will also need to take a full course of Natural Family Planning.

Pre-registration for each of these programs is mandatory. For more

information about the diocesan requirements or to register for any of
