Everyday Stewardship

I read a story recently about a teacher who donated to one of her former students a kidney. This tremendous act of selflessness came about because the young person had lost most of the function his kidneys due to an ill-ness. Literally, that teacher gave the gift of life to someone who wasn't her own child or another family member. This is certainly radical stewardship. How far would you go to give of yourself so that another might live? Would you have to love him or her like your own child or parent? No one can deny it would be a difficult decision, especially if your giving put your own health at risk. Reflecting on these things helps to provide some perspective on the crucifixion of Jesus. Not only did he suffer tremendously at the hands of the Romans, he gave his life for us so we might live forever. What does true stew-ardship look like? The cross is a symbol to us of total surrender. When we are called to give of ourselves in ordi-nary ways in daily life we sometimes hesitate and think twice. Perhaps when we are unsure we should look to the cross and there we can find our strength. And then when the call comes to truly sacrifice and place our trust in God, we may have already developed a lifestyle that makes responding, "yes," that much easier. --Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

Lenten Food Drive

Meet Mother Hubbard! Mother Hubbard's Cupboard (MHC or The Hub for short) strives to increase access to healthy food for all people in need, in ways that cultivate dignity, self-sufficiency, and community. The Hub oper-ates a food pantry, commu-nity gardens, nutrition educa-tion programs, tool share and a d v o c a c y p r o g r a m s . The MHC food pantry is the largest in Monroe County. It is open 5 days a week and pro-vides immediate access to food for 3,800 individuals and families in need each week, with an emphasis on nutritious and healthy se-lections. Please donate to St. Paul's Lenten Food Drive to help stock the MHC food pantry! Shelf-stable protein and dairy items are particularly needed.

(PPC) Now Being Accepted Members of the PPC serve as a liaison between the Pastor and the parish. Members also serve in a con-sultative position to the Pastor. Nominees for the Council are being accepted until March 25. Open positions are as follows: 2 Undergraduate Representatives 1 Grad Student Representative 2 Resident Parishioner Representatives 1 Multi-Cultural Representative 1 IU Staff/Faculty Representative Per PPC By-Laws, Members shall:

Be baptized and confirmed Catholics.

Be active members of the parish and participants

in parish activities, including worship.

Know and support the mission of St. Paul Catholic

Center.

Possess the talents and skills needed to carry out

the work of the Council and attend the meetings of the council.

Be willing to utilize consensus in making recom-

mended to the pastor. The PPC meets once a month during the academic school year (August-May) from 7-9pm, usually on the 3rd Monday of the month. Potential Candidates must complete a nomination f o r m ( a v a i l a b l e o n o u r w e b s i t e , www.hoosiercatholic.org) or in the parish office during regular office hours and return the completed form by March 25th. The election will be held on Sunday, April 15 after all Masses, and successful candidates will be notified by Fr. John no later than Tuesday, April 17. CYO Spring Camps!

Women’s Only Weekend (WOW) April 20-21 For women 21 and older. Depart from the hurry and worry of everyday life. Pull back, unplug and re-charge! This program is a spiritual retreat with op-portunities to relax and recreate. Activities include crafts, workshops, high challenge, hikes, etc. Women are welcome to do as little or as much as they desire. “I Believe” is the 2018 theme. Massage and Spiritual Direction sessions available. Spring Family Camp May 11-13 Best suited for those 5 and older. Family Camp is designed to encourage and foster relevant, inten-tional, and relational experiences for parents and children. Activities include climbing, canoeing, crafts, archery, evening activities, games, sports, Mass, campfires and MORE! Campers live together in large cabins and eat in the dining hall.
