St. Nicholas School August 31, 2018 Principal’s Corner Dear St. Nicholas Families, I want to thank you for the kind greetings and the great things you had to say on Back to School Night last night. We loved seeing all the families and the smiling faces for pictures and drop of their supplies for school. School starts on Tuesday, September 4th at 7:45 am. Supervision in the parish hall will being at 7:00. Remember all families need to wait outside of the building for students when they are dismissed from school. Also, please be patient with parking and dropping off student in the morning. I would like to have all students dropped off in the front of school, so all the kids can go down to the Parish Hall. The parking and drop off will be changing throughout the year, as soon as I have information for you I will send it out to you. The St. Nicholas School Staff and I look forward to another successful school year of growing and learning together to make this the best school year yet. Welcome back! Sincerely, Scott Vanderloop, Principal Rocket Recorder 1 Home and School News H&S is still looking for new members for the 2018-2019 school year! Total Raised: $2,293,345.55 (as of 8/28/2018) Fund Balance (money collected-expenses): $676,449.95 (as of 8/14/2018)

Expenses Paid from Expansion Restricted Fund: $291,873.13 (as of 8/14/2018)

On August 16, 2018, the Pastoral and Finance Councils met and unanimously approved to move forward with the Financing and Construction Phases of the Building for the Future project! The Capital Campaign successfully raised 100% of the funds for this project. Next steps at this time are to have the Green Bay Diocese legal team review the Consolidated Construction Company Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Contract prior to St. Nicholas leadership signatures by the end of August 2018. In the meantime, Consolidated Construction will work to order the metal building materials for the Community Center since this item has a 12-15-week lead time. Additionally, plans are being reviewed to move the existing garage between the Church and the Playground to the west end of the parking lot behind the rectory. It is expected Construction Safety Fence will go up prior to the start of school (September 4, 2018) to get us all into good habits during the Construction Phase.

Thanks to all our generous donors, we have successfully met the $2.275M fundraising goal! We could not be happier in the Capital

Campaign Camp. ☺ So NOW WHAT? If you haven’t yet making EFT or credit card

payments on your pledge, it is time! You should be receiving a phone call (if you haven’t already) about when your payments will begin. The sooner we can get payments made, the more we will save on our short-term financing costs. For those who want to make lump sum payment(s) on their pledge, please plan on dropping those off in the Parish Office.

The good news is we have met our goal of $2.275 million! The better news is that you CAN STILL DONATE! The $2.275M is the construction cost. We still need to fund the furnishings of the new space—wall decorations, furniture, kitchen appliances, room divider curtain for the Community Center, AV equipment, etc. So, get those new or updated donations submitted. Any donation of at least $4,800 will be recognized on the Donor Tree.

Saint Nicholas and Saint Vincent Ferrer, patron saint of builders, pray for us and our building project.

I didn’t get my new or updated pledge submitted last week. Is it too late?

Depending upon the weather, you can expect to see the concrete poured for the Parish Garage back near where the Country Fest stage is normally located. The Garage is now emptied, bricks are (coming) off, and is ready to be moved. We are just waiting for the weather to cooperate!

DONOR LEAF CONFIRMATION

Your Capital Campaign Committee will begin the work to send out confirmation letters regarding how your donation will be recognized on the Donor Tree. Each of the metal leaves will represent each donor who gave at least $4,800. More details will be shared on the Donor Tree in future bulletin articles. Stay tuned!

Introducing St. Nicholas Home & School 2018-2019

The St. Nicholas Home and School Association supports both St. Nicholas families and staff! Our role is to plan activities and events that encourage interaction and networking among our school families and staff. Our events are made possible by our fundraising events and also by your family’s $10.00 dues.

*Examples of events supported by Home & School include* Back to School Carnival, Fall Family Night, Christmas and Spring Concert Refreshments, Conference Week Staff Refreshments, Christmas Store, Donuts with Dad, Morning with

Mom, Staff Appreciation Week, End of the Year Picnic, and more!

We need your help!! The Home and School Committee is made up of 4 volunteers. It is a 2-year commitment and we rotate 2 members every year to provide continuity from year to year. Right now, we have 2 openings on our board! Yes, it is a small time commitment, but we have a blast and you have a chance to get to know more folks at SNS! Please consider being a part of your child’s time at St. Nicholas and please volunteer for Home and School. Please direct any questions to your 2018-2019 Home & School Association Board
