~FAITH FORMATION~ Registration for Faith Formation is open

Visit us at the office from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Mon-day through Thursday to register your children for next year. Classes are not just for sacraments, this is an educa-tion of the Faith for all grades, even if the children do not need a sacrament. Everyone is welcome. Also, we will have a special registration dates after all the Masses on the following dates: August 19th 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. August 26th 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. What we need: --Baptism certificate -The child is needed for a photo

Classes start Sunday, September 9th. Please note the new class schedule: Schedule “A” 1-6 grade . From 8:30 –9:45a.m. English and Spanish classes. Schedule “B” 7-12 grade. From 9:30a.m.-1:15p.m. English only Schedule “C” 1-6 grade. From 10:00-11:15a.m. English and Spanish classes.

School Supply Drive The Catholic Daughters of America is also sponsoring a drive to collect backpacks and school supplies for the children of Ermel Elementary located in our area. The stu-dents need backpacks, crayons, pencils, notebooks, spirals, etc. Please bring your donations to the parish office or leave in bus cart at the north entrance of the church. Thank you for your support.

Baptisms for children under the age of 7 - --Both the parents and godparents have to attend two pre-baptismal classes. The classes are about 2 hours long. Parents need to register for the classes by filling out the registration form and we also need a copy of the child's certified Birth Certificate. --Godparent requirements: Must have all the Sacraments of Initiation, which are Baptism, Communion and Confirmation. Can be single but not cohabitating, and if married, they need to be married through the Church. You can have only one godparent or they can have two but if they have two persons, one has to be male and the other female --Baptisms are held every month except in December. Usually the 3rd Sunday of the month in Spanish and the third Saturday of the month in English. Once the parents take the classes, then they can sign up for the date they wish to baptize. --There is no fee, a donation may be asked for during the classes to cover the cost of the materials provided. There is also a dona-tion given to celebrant the day of the Baptism. It is a donation what they wish to give, no set amount. For further information, please call our parish office at 713-466-4030.

Las Hijas Catolicas de America también está patrocinando una unidad para recolectar mochilas y útiles escolares para los niños de la escuela primaria Ermel ubicada en nuestra área. Los estudiantes necesitan mochilas, crayones, lápices, pegamento, papel, cuadernos, espirales, etc. Traiga sus donaciones a la oficina o déjelos en la entrada norte de la Iglesia. Las clases comenzaran el domingo 9 de Septiembre. Tome nota de nuestro nuevo horario:

Horario “A” 1-6 grado: 8:30 a.m. a 9:45 a.m. ; classes en Ingles y Español.

Horario “B” 7-12 grado: 9:30 a.m. a 1:15 p.m.; classes en Ingles solamente.

Informacion para Bautizos de niños menores de 7 años : Los padres y los padrinos deben asistir a dos clases prebautis-males. Las clases son de aproximadamente dos horas. Los padres pueden obtener un formulario de inscripción en la oficina de la parroquia. (Necesitamos una copia del certificado de nacimiento del niño) Requisitos de los padrinos: Debe tener todos los Sacramentos de Iniciación, que son Bautismo, Comunión y Confirmación. Los padrinos pueden ser solteros pero no cohabitar (en union libre), y si están casados, necesitan estar casados por la Iglesia Catolica. Pueden tener solo un padrino o pueden tener dos (solteros/solteras), pero si tienen dos personas, uno tiene que ser masculino y el otro femenino y tienen que tener todos sus sacramentos. Los bautizos se llevan a cabo todos los meses, excepto en diciem-bre. Por lo general, el tercer domingo del mes en español y el tercer sábado del mes en inglés. Una vez que los padres y pa-drinos toman las clases, pueden inscribirse para la fecha en que desean bautizar. No hay costo por bautizar, pero se puede solicitar una donación durante las clases para cubrir el costo de los materiales proporcio-nados. 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time: August 19 That we make wise choices in how we live as God’s stewards and have the courage to turn away from foolish wants. “Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise…” (Ephesians 5:15) A wise person recognizes that all we have and all we are comes from God. A wise person thanks God continually throughout the day for all His many blessings. A wise person realizes that God has blessed us for a reason and that He wants us to help Him build His kingdom of earth.

Vigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario: 19 de Agosto Para que tomemos decisiones sabias sobre cómo vivimos como mayor-domos de Dios y que tengamos el valor de alejarnos de las nece-sidades tontas. "Miren cuidadosamente cómo viven, no como necios sino como sabios..." (Efesios 5:15) Una persona sabia reconoce que todo lo que tenemos y todo lo que somos proviene de Dios. Una persona sabia agradece a Dios continuamente du-rante todo el día por todas Sus bendiciones. Una persona sabia se da cuenta de que Dios nos ha bendecido por alguna razón y que Él quiere que lo ayudemos a construir su reino terrenal.
