Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month, September thru May for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when someone wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office, or place it in the collection basket.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
GIVE GOD THE GLORY
A curious feature of the first half of Mark's Gospel is the pattern of Jesus working a miracle, then telling the recipient of the miracle to keep still about it. Many theories have been offered: Mark is setting the stage for the great "secret" revealed when Peter will proclaim Jesus the Messiah at Caesarea Philippi; more skeptical commentators offer that Jesus, fully aware of human nature, knew that the way to spread the news was to tell people to keep it secret. The insight into this secret-keeping that serves us well, however, is that Jesus was initiating his public ministry according to the pattern that Paul de-scribes. He was doing it for the glory of God--not for his own benefit, but for that of all. Paul would later write in Philippians that Jesus "humbled" him-self to become like us. And we see this humility at work in today's healing of the leper. Jesus is trying to reveal the presence of God's reign among the people, not so that he himself might receive the glory, but so that God would be glorified through him. Imitating this pattern, which Paul encourages the Jewish and Greek Christian factions in Corinth to do, still serves us well today.
The leper will dwell apart, making an abode outside the camp (Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46).
I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation (Psalm 32).
Do everything for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31 -- 11:1).
The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean (Mark 1:40-45).

The Catholic Church’s observance of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 14, and will end on Easter Sunday, April 1. During Lent, we are asked to devote ourselves to seeking the Lord in prayer and reading Scripture, to service by giving alms, and to sacrifice self-control through fasting. Many will follow the tradition of abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent. If you are unclear about the fasting, here are the Church’s guidelines: Catholics between the ages of 18 & 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, all Catholics 14 years old & older must abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting as explained by the U.S. bishops means partaking of only one full meal. Some food (not equaling another full meal) is permitted at breakfast and around midday or in the evening - depending on when a person chooses to eat the main or full meal. Abstinence forbids the use of meat, but not of eggs, milk products or condiments made of animal fat. The USCCB has a special Lenten web page that includes a calendar of daily readings and activities to help you pray, act and to help you renew your baptismal promise during Lent. Visit the page at https://tinyurl.com/z8oyrgf or find information on our diocesan Events Calendar at www.diocesepb.orb/event
The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, February 19th, in
observance of President’s Day.
There are no CCD classes this week or next week. Classes will resume on February 25th.
Thank you to our parishioners for their kindness and generosity in support of our “Souper Bowl of Caring” service project. The amount collected was $ 1,465, which will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Ann Place to provide food for those in need.

Time spent in service to our parish community may be credited to hours you may need for church, scouts, school or scholarships. Thank you to all the teens who come to help with the preparation, serving and cleaning each week...we couldn’t do it without YOU!
