July 31 ~ Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“…rest, eat, drink, be merry!” Oh how inviting this sounds! But Paul is wise and kind to caution us (as he cautioned the Colossians) to “Seek what is above… Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly” We are called to be in the world, but not of the world. In fact, our task is to sanctify the world around us. Difficult? Sure. But not impossible – re-member, with God all things are possible. This week, make a concerted effort to ‘seek what is above’ by adding just five minutes to your daily prayer time. And if daily prayer isn’t yet a habit, start with just five minutes of conversation with God who is just waiting to hear from you.
