WHO'S WHO IN THE PEW…

Please join us in welcoming three new members to St. Mark’s! We’re blessed to have them here and hope you’ll take the time to greet them and become acquainted with these amazing women!

Candace La Vigne Candace was born and raised in Watertown, CT. From 1967 until 2008 Candace had a career as an educator in private, public, and vocational schools both in Connecticut and in New York. During her career, Candace taught all grades, served as a High School Principal, a Special Education Director, and an Assistant Superintendent of schools. She was a researcher at UConn, an Early Childhood Consultant for the CT Department of Education and was an Associate Professor at Fordham. She relocated to NY in 1990. She’s also held part-time jobs in the areas of gardening, banquet, library, and a summer camp; and volunteers in hospital and nursing home pet therapy programs. She loves animals and lives in Mt. Kisco with her two cats and her poodle. Candace was raised Episcopalian and she and her family were very active in the church. She participated in Choir and Youth Peoples’ Fellowship. The Blessing of the Animals Service brought her to St. Mark’s two years ago and she’s become a regular attendee since Lent. She enjoys Bill’s sermons and teachings and feels that our members are warm and welcoming.

Kendall C. Atterbury Kendall was born in Illinois, but grew up in Geneva, Switzerland (until age 10) and in different regions of the country. She is a social worker in NYC, working as an advocate for people with serious mental illnesses. Past careers included being a rowing coach, running an outreach program for at-risk youth,

working in construction, and working with hospice patients in CT. She’s currently finishing her dissertation as a Doctoral Candidate in Social Work. Her hobbies include rowing, running, hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with her pups. Born and raised as an Episcopalian, she attended an Episcopal high school. She and her husband, Jason, were very attached to their previous parish in Boston, but decided it was time to attend a local parish since their move to Mt. Kisco three years ago. Kendall appreciates the sense of community and welcoming hospitality that she’s found at St. Mark’s.

Tania Reyes Hiller Growing up as military child, Tania was born at the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and moved extensively as a youngster; living both in Germany and several states within the U.S. She attended high school and college in San Francisco and lived there until 8 years ago, when she married her current husband, Dean. While in California Tania worked as the head of admissions at a hospital, ran a medical corporation, and obtained her real estate license. Not working now, Tania enjoys light gardening, reading, and playing duplicate bridge. Dean works in computers and helps Tania who describes herself as “technologically challenged and geographically (GPS) hopeless!” (Many of us can relate to this!) She was born into the Russian Orthodox church, but raised her children as Episcopalians in California. During the construction of their new home in Bedford, she used to drive past St. Mark’s frequently (although she thought it was St. Matthew’s). Imagine her surprise when she discovered through the church bulletin that she was actually attending St. Marks! But despite her small error, she feels this is her new spiritual home. She enjoys Bill’s sermons and appreciates the kindness and welcoming that both she and her little black teacup poodle, Bepka, have received.

November Markings Deadline is Monday, October 26, 2015
