Adult Safe Environment Awareness Sessions Requirements

Safe Environment Certification for Adult Volunteers is required prior to serving in Ministry and must be renewed every two years. Initial or Renewal Safe Environment Certification currently requires attendance at a live and in person (“face-to-face”) Safe Environment Awareness Session (“Protecting God’s Children For Adults”) and requires a Virtus profile. See available awareness sessions: https://fwdioc.org/training-sessions. Please contact Kim Harbert with any questions: [email protected]. Youth Safe Environment (Teen Leader Training) requires in person training. Please contact the youth ministers. Called to Protect session is a prerequisite to apply for Teen Leader Training.

Our mission is to be a God-centered Catholic community of Faith which teaches, evangelizes, and ministers to the needs of God’s people.

2019 Please consider supporting our Bread of Life Ministry by providing personal care items, infant items, cleaning products,

and non-perishable food items for Denton County’s Friends of the Family. ADDITIONALLY, our friends at The Shepherd’s Hand Pantry, an important distribution point for Bread of Life, providing approximately 1300 meals monthly, are in need of sealable food baggies, primarily quart and gallon size. Please consider picking up an extra box or two the next time you go shopping. Place your donations in the Bread of Life drop box in the Narthex. Thank you for your help and continued support of our friends in need. Together we can help “Feed the Hungry”!

Come join our Lay Marianist on Saturday, March 30 at St Mark for a day of reflections, prayers, rosary, stations of the cross as we ponder

our Lenten mission for the remaining weeks of Lent. It will begin at 8 am and close by 2 pm. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please call Andy Gilliard at 940-323-8693 for any questions.

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT March 16-17, 2019

Penitential Disciplines of Lent "The Christian faithful, during Lent, are clearly conscious of the need to turn the mind towards those realities which really count, which require Gospel commitment and integrity of life which, through self denial of those things which are superfluous, are translated into good works and solidarity with the poor and needy" (Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy, #125). In addition to choosing their own penitential practices, Catholics are also asked to observe the practices of fast and abstinence during the 40 days of Lent. The Lenten Fast and Abstinence Regulations are as follows: 1. Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. 2. Everyone 18 years of age and under 59 years of age is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. (The obligation of fasting ceases with the celebration of one's 59th birthday.) 3. Fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday means eating only one full, meatless meal. Two other smaller, meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one's needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted on these two days, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices, are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. 4. Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed minimal penitential practices.
