Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“Watch carefully how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, making the most of the oppor-

tunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not continue in ignorance, but try to understand what is

the will of the Lord” said St. Paul in today’s Second Reading.

In only two weeks we will be in the full swing of our daily busy lives. The summer is over, children return to

school, and our normal daily activities are resumed. Time and seasons keep moving and passing away, the question is

“are we making the most of the opportunity” as St. Paul mentioned above? According to St. Paul, if we do not take

every opportunity in our lifetime to discern the Lord’s will, we are considered to be foolish in the eyes of God since

not knowing the will of God means living in ignorance and darkness. Indeed, God wills that our lives in this world are

opportunities for us to achieve eternal life and happiness in heaven. In order to “make the most of the opportunity”, we

are wasting our time if we do not discern and accept God’s will in all circumstances and aspects of our lives. We have

the “opportunity” to live, to know, and to love God in this life, we have the “opportunity” to give thanks and praise to

God for all the good things and blessings in our lives. We also have the “opportunity” to join our mental, physical, and

moral sufferings to Jesus’ suffering on the cross and offer them to God the Father for the forgiveness of our sins and

the sins of others. Every single day is an opportunity for us to recognize, accept, and to live God’s will in this earthly

life. For some, God-given “opportunity” is being wasted everyday by seeking fulfilment in worldly allurements and

not the “Bread of Life”. Some give up the “opportunity” to thank God through prayers and acts of charity for the well-

being and blessings of family. Some lost the “opportunity” to use their hurt, pain, illness, suffering and all these earth-

ly trials to gain the reward of heaven. Let us not live in darkness or ignorance, let us take every day opportunities to

discern, accept, and live the Lord’s will as long as we still have “opportunity”. -Fr. Joe Pham

OFFERTORY COLLECTIONS

May God repay you for your sacrifices. Thank you for

making your checks payable to:

“Infant Jesus Parish”.

Do you know anyone

interested in becoming Catholic

or completing their Sacraments?

If so, Father Steve Rapposelli can answer questions

and help in either endeavor. Please contact Fr. Steve at

856-848-0047 or at [email protected]. Anyone

wanting to join the RCIA Team should contact Father

Steve. There are many ways to serve in RCIA, so do

not hesitate to inquire. Many hands make light work.

Special Need - St. Vincent de Paul works

with an organization in Camden that has

expressed a need for reading glasses. Just

the drugstore type of any magnification. If

you have a pair (or more) still in good condition, please

drop them in our food collection tub in the back of the

church.

The kids have only been out of school for a few weeks

but already "Back to School" sales have started. From

now through the end of August we will be collecting

various school supplies for children in our area in need.

Backpacks are always a special need. Other supplies

needed are notebooks, binders, looseleaf paper, pencils,

pens, crayons, scissors, folders, book covers, rulers,

etc. All donations can be left in the back of the churches

in the St. Vincent DePaul bins. Thank you in advance

for any help you can give us. The children appreciate it

and it makes going back to school a little easier when

you have a brand new backpack full of brand new sup-

plies. Thank you and God Bless!

LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA

Have you checked out the CDs in the back of the

church? There are many different titles on a variety of

subjects. If you find a subject that interests you they can

be purchased for only $3.00 each. Listening to these

CDs is a great way to be inspired and learn more about

our Catholic faith.
