The month of October is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God, as a month to pray the rosary each day. I encourage all of you to kindly return to our long standing and beauti-ful tradition of praying the rosary everyday during all thirty-one days of this month. If you have never done so, now is the time to spend time with our Mother. If you cannot pray the entire rosary due to time, at least pray a decade of the rosary each day. Please make sure the entire family prays, along with the children, your grown-up children, and grandchildren. After all, if God and Mary is so good to us by helping us so much on

earth, should they not receive the same time as we show our mothers here on this earth? Let this month be a spiritual game changer for us all with God and Mary! St. Louis de Montfort and Saint John Paul II the Great prayed the rosary everyday! Why should we not do the same? Is there something more important than the rosary?

Today Jesus is reminding us that we should have unlimited faith and confidence in God. No prayer that we

utter goes unheard. God is never out of his office; He's never on vacation. He is longing for us to bombard Him with our prayers. He is eagerly searching for hearts that trust Him enough to ask Him unceasingly for everything we need. He always answers our prayers, even when the answer is "no". Since God is our Father, all-wise, all-loving, and all-powerful, there should be no limit to our confidence in Him. Therefore, St Luke tells us today, we should "pray always with-out becoming weary." Being constant in our pray-er, just like the widow with her petitions to the judge, just like Moses interceding for victory in the battle against the Amalekites: constant in thanks-giving, constant in repentance, constant in praise, and constant in bringing to God every need that comes our way. Constancy built on confidence - that's the path to becoming better disciples.

What can we do to make sure we stay faithful? The First Reading tells us. Moses sends Joshua to lead the Israelite defense against the attacking Am-alekites, while he himself climbs a hill above the battlefield to pray for victory. Moses raises his staff with both hands, and the battle goes well. As his arms get tired, Aaron and Hur, support them, until the battle is won. This is an image of the Church as a whole, and also of each individual Christian.

First of all, picture Moses on the hill holding the staff up with both arms. He would have looked like Christ on the cross. Victory in the Christian life comes only through the grace that Christ won for us by his sacrifice on the cross, grace which comes to us through prayer and the sacraments. Now, Aaron and Hur were both priests, but Joshua was a layman. Notice how the battle is only won if the priests are doing their job - praying and administering the sacraments, and the layman is doing his job - fighting to imbue society with Christian virtue and values. This is the Church: clergy and laity, with distinct roles, both essential for victory. Yet, each individual Christian is like the Church in miniature. We all are called to spread Christ's Kingdom through an active life of virtue and apostolate, but we can't do that unless we tap into God's grace through prayer and the sacraments.

Today, as Christ strengthens us with the Eucharist and sends us out to Christianize society, let's ask ourselves which part we need to work on more: prayer or action, and let's not wait to get to work - the outcome of the battle may depend on it.

I continue to thank all of you for your continued hospitality and warmth you are showing me and each other. Please spread the good word of our wonderful parish and it is very nice to see more and more people coming back to worship God. Many of us are still saying how great it is to see our parishioner families returning back.

St Louis de Montfort, pray for us! Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, pray for us!

Have a great week and enjoy life with a great smile! Pray always!

THANK YOU What a great parish celebration we had for my installation as your sixth pastor of St. Louis de Montfort. A

Many parishioners have said how great this was for our parish and how much joy and friendship is being brought back to St. Louis de Montfort. Many parish-ioners have commented that the last time they have seen our church this full was many, many years ago! Thank you all for praying and coming to make this day and new chapter at St. Louis de Montfort possible!

Hand-Carved Olive Wood Gifts

from the Holy Land Proceeds benefit Catholic schools in the Holy Land.

There are more than 600 Christian families living in Bethlehem and are completely depend-ent on carving olive wood figurines for their livelihood. The recent clashes in the Middle East

have stopped the tourism in-dustry in Bethlehem, causing most of those families serious harm in earning their living and forcing many of them to leave their homeland. Empty-ing the land of Christ from Christians can have tragic con-sequences on the Holy sites. Issam from “Star of Bethlehem Group” came to the United States with a mission to help those families by selling their beautiful religious hand crafts. The cost of goods goes to benefit the Christian carvers to keep them working in the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the profit from sales goes directly to the needy

Catholic schools and clinics in the Holy Land. Star of Bethlehem has been approved by archdi-ocese of Chicago, many bishops, and from dio-cese of Jerusalem. The beautiful carvings will be at St. Louis de Montfort for one weekend, October 29th & 30th.

RESPECT LIFE BABY BOTTLE PROJECT

Last weekend, as in years past, St. Louis de Montfort began the annual Baby Bottle Project benefiting The Women’s

Centers of Greater Chicagoland. This non-profit organization directly assists mothers and families experiencing crisis pregnancies by offering emotional, financial, material, and spiritual support through counseling, clothing & monetary provisions, prayer, and other aid. Each year the three locations together have over 5,000 appointments with expecting mothers. By God’s Grace, The Women’s Centers have saved over 40,000 babies—and their mothers—from abortion since opening in 1984. We have many bottles left, if you did not get a bottle last week, please take one home with you today, fill it with your spare change, and return it the weekend of November 5-6th. You will find the bottles in the church vestibule.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
