“No Soul Le Behind” 2017 Today at Mass, our St. Ladislas Evangeliza on team invited you to write the first names of those whom you would like to see take the next step in their walk with Jesus, whether by mee ng Christ for the first me, return-

ing to an ac ve par cipa on of the Faith, or deepening their growth in holiness. Addi onal cards are at each church entrance for the next three weeks. Turn them in to the office or in the collec on basket. On June 3 and 4, parishioners will be invited to take a card or two at the end of Mass, promising to pray for these individuals from now un l Labor Day. May our prayers make a difference in

the lives of these individuals.

While George was in graduate school, a campus minister said that his encounter with Christ in prison informed, enabled, and nurtured his encounter with Christ in his personal prayer and other ministry – especially to students. A few years later, George responded to a bul-le n invita on and entered prison ministry. George shares that Catholic prison ministry is a diocesan ministry. Leaders engage volunteers to work towards a common goal: pro-claiming God’s love, affirming human dignity, and providing witness to the incarcerated’s needs. In addi on to one-on-one interac ons, volunteers develop programs, advocate for jus ce, and build support networks outside of the prisons. “The ministry mo vates my own spiritual and theological growth and provides resources and colleagues along this journey.” A few years ago, a group from St. Lads and St. Igna us formed a parish program which would anchor this ministry in the community and to grow it to meet other needs such as the outreach to the families of the incarcerated (the LEAF ministry.) “St. Lad’s response has been overwhelm-ing, both in volunteering and in dona ons. Through pen pal, LEAF, dona on coordinators, tu-tors, and religious program facilitators, there are more than 30 of us who can say – with mean-ing – we are St. Lads’ prison ministers!” Thank you, George! If you’d like to recommend a parishioner for this spotlight who has generously shared their gi s and talents in our parish or in our community, please contact Martha Bober at [email protected].

The Challenge of Music in the Liturgy

“We musicians serve the sacramental Liturgy by respec ng its integrity in the pro-por on of its units, sub-units, and elements and its clarity. Our congrega on sings

beau ful music. Each composi on we ask our congrega ons to sing or listen to demonstrates integrity of form, harmonious deployment of pitches, volumes, dura ons, and mbres, and the

s Respect Life Ministry

Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14th, 2017 will be the start of this year’s Loose Change for Life Campaign;

an annual campaign to benefit the Cleveland Pregnancy Center and assist them in their con nuing efforts to provide support to mothers and their children, born and unborn.

Members of the Respect Life Ministry will be at the doors, a er each mass, to hand out empty baby

bo les. We encourage you to take a baby bo le and fill it with your loose change, cash or check, and return on or before Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18th, 2017.

Your support each year has been very generous and we look forward to your support again this year.

Respect Life Ministry Marian Prayer from “The Gospel of Life”—Pope St. John Paul II

Pray this Mother’s Day O Mary,

bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living,

to you do we entrust the cause of life. Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers

of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult,

of men and women who are vic ms of brutal violence,

of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.

Grant that all who believe in your Son

may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love

to the people of our me.

Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel

as a gi ever new, the joy of celebra ng it with gra tude

throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it

resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will,

the civiliza on of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God,

the Creator and lover of life.
