RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Thank you to those people who helped make yesterday, St Joseph’s Day, special. I hope everyone enjoyed the Feast Day of our patron saint. Yesterday was a very significant day for the Sisters of St Joseph, as the Goulburn congregation of the Jospehites merged and become one with the Australian Congregation. We pray that they continue to carry out the work of St Mary McKillop. PALM SUNDAY This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the final Sunday before Easter and marks the beginning of Holy Week. The

feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, about a week before his Resurrection. According to the Gospels Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem, and the celebrating people there lay down their cloaks in front of him, and also lay down small branches of trees. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves, or the branches of native trees, which are carried in a procession. Any leftover branches can be burned and the ashes used in the next year's Ash Wednesday. Next Thursday we will celebrate the Easter Tridum with a presentation in the hall. Classes will participate in their stages. Julie Flynn Religious Coordinator

STRING LESSONS My name is Lizzie Walsh. I'm the string teacher at St Francis College in Leeton and I also teach privately in Narrandera. I'm currently looking for some motivated students from your school to take up the violin, viola, or cello. It's best to start learning during primary years: an early start can assist with pitch development, memory and co-ordination. Strings are clever, creative and versatile, and my lessons are fun and engaging. Open to expressions of interest from all students. An especially good opportunity for prospective St Francis students. Some instrument hire available. Ring Lizzie 0417 536 890
