As we grow into a living community of faith, we can “Rejoice” in the Lord’s presence in our midst. At the same time, we always need to be asking ourselves, “What MORE can we do to receive, share and witness to God’s abundance in our midst?” Look at those around you, those who bring our beautiful liturgy to us – they make possible God in our midst. Look at all the gifts for needy families and children – they make God visible in our midst. Look at the joy we share, the support we receive, the gift of faith passed from generation to gen-eration – God in our midst. We rejoice!

Dear Parishioners:
On this Third Sunday of Advent, we "Rejoice - The Lord Jesus is near!" If you are feeling artistic, express this joyful spirit with the special color of rose - rose colored vestments, rose colored third candle and decorations! If people stop you and ask why do you look and smell like a rose, tell them, "Rejoice - The Lord Jesus is near!"
So that you may be happy and healthy for the Holy Days of Advent and Christ-mas, Fr. Hilary is offering the powerful Healing Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick this weekend at St. Joseph the Worker at all Masses with the help of Fr. Dennis Miller and next weekend (Dec 19 & 20) at all St. Columbkille Masses with the help of Msgr. Russell Bleich. Let us celebrate this Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy as we prepare to receive Jesus, Our Savior, with joy!
Blessings upon you, Fr. Gabriel

In the Holy Land, not far from where the angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, a group of artisans carve beautiful nativity scenes out of olive wood. This is how Nawal Gharib provides for her family. The work she does is important—not just because it helps pay for food and other supplies, but because it allows her to share her God-given gifts with others. Not so long ago, her workshop was danger-ous. It was hard to breathe and see, which meant she and her fellow workers often got sick. Now their work-shop is healthy, clean and safe. “This is the best Christmas gift we have ever received,” says Nawal, with a big smile on her face. “Now we are working in a better place, a healthier place.” What did she need? A safe
place to work. Now Nawal and her family are able to ask the question, like the people asked John the Baptist, “What should we do? (crsfairtrade.org/advent)
