MASS CHANGE Due to the request of parishioners for over a year we are considering changing

Saturday evening Mass time. Beginning January 12th, Saturday evening mass may be changed to 4:30 PM. There will be confession from 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM because of the lack of people going to confession – Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM and mass at 4:30 PM. If you have any opinion to the time changes please talk to Fr. Benny or fill out form in the pews. 'NEW' Extraordinary Ministers: Have you ever prayerfully considered becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, either to serve at Mass or to visit the sick and homebound (or both)? Talk to Fr. Benny or call the parish office if you have considered being a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion. Altar Servers and Lectors are also needed to serve at Mass.

Due to Christmas on December 25th it was voted on at the last meeting that we will not have a meeting on

the December 23rd. We have a work session on Saturday, December 29th to clean up the garage. Everyone is welcomed to come and help. We will start around 9am and hope to be done by noon. Movie Knight There will be NO Movie Knight in December. The Knights remind everyone to Keep Christ in Christmas!! The next Movie Knight will be on January 20th. The movie will be from the God is Not Dead series – “A Light in Darkness”. The story details the fight between the university administration and the college congregation, as the university ties to push the congregation off campus.

March 2nd we will hold our Knight at the Races. . March 30th we will be marking our 6th year as Knights of Columbus in

Bonneauville. We will meet for the Saturday night Mass and then proceed to the Parish Center for a meal, etc. Everyone is welcome to attend. Both events will be held in the Deacon Weaver Parish Center. More information to follow.

Mass dates are available for “2019” for anyone who would like to have a Mass said in honor of or in memory of a living or deceased loved one. Mass stipends are $10.00.

4th Sunday of Advent, Cycle C

The final Sunday of Advent shows Elizabeth and her un-born son, John, reacting to the nearness of the unborn Christ. We know that Eliza-beth immediately understood that Mary was pregnant with the Lord, because the Gospel says she was filled with the Holy Spirit. But how could the fetal John understand? How could he leap for joy while still in the womb? If it's true that an unborn baby is not a person with a soul un-til it takes its first breath, as is claimed by many who believe that abortion is okay, how could the unborn John recog-nize the presence of the un-born Savior? The faith to recognize the presence of Christ -- in the womb of people's lives, in the Eucharist, in the humanity of unborn children, etc. -- comes from being fully alive in the Holy Spirit, who was given to us fully during our baptisms. However, it takes a humble willingness to let God change our minds about what we think is true in order to be open to God's Spirit teaching us what is indeed true.

John as a fetus was incapable of understanding any-thing, especially when it happened outside the womb, yet he leapt for joy. This teaches us that we don't need to see God working in the world or solving our personal problems before we can leap for joy. We don't have to understand what God is doing, and we don't even have to know his plans.

The Holy Spirit enlivened the faith of Elizabeth and John through an act of grace that depended on Christ's fu-ture activity. For us, our faith is enliv-ened by the grace God provides in the Sacraments. The joy that comes from recognizing the presence of Christ is God's Christmas gift to us. It's a joy that's meant to last all year. It's a lifestyle, not a holiday. It comes from a faith that appreciates God for working mercifully in ways that we can see and ways that we cannot see, be-cause we trust in his goodness. Even when we suffer or feel sorrow, we can learn to recognize the presence of Christ. And then what? Like John, we are called to be heralds of Christ's pres-ence. How? First by sharing our joy with others.

Reflect & Discuss:

1. How much is the joy of Christ's Spirit within you affecting your outward life?

2. What will you do this Christmas to become more aware of the Holy Spirit increasing your faith?

3. Give examples of how the Spirit of Christmas is really the Holy Spirit.

4. What activities have helped you get into the Spirit of Christmas? How has this affected your prep-arations for celebrating Christ-mas as a holy day?
