J esus challenges us to know him personally as he makes an exclusive, concerned, loving claim upon each one of us. He invites us to discover him, serve him and love

him as Lord and he wants from each one of us our total, single-hearted response. He offers an exclusive promise, and builds with us the best and unique friendship which indicates that through him and in him alone we will find salvation. From today’s readings, we perceive the depth of the riches, wisdom and knowledge of God. We come to the realization that the judgments of God are indeed mysterious and yet contain his deep concern for us. In the first reading God appoints a new royal official. Only a person who serves God will qualify for that position. Then God says of the chosen that he will place the key of the house of David on his shoulder. Paul in the second reading marvels at the divine goodness, wisdom and knowledge. He invites all to give glory to God forever. He tells the Roman community that everything that exists comes from God and it is for the glory of God. In the Gospel of today, we see Jesus makes a simple human inquiry about the way they have understood him and whether his mission is successful. He is the God-man, the messiah but he wants to know if his disciples have truly grasped his teaching. Peter responds to him in the name of the disciples that he is the Messiah. In return Peter is commissioned by Jesus and is given the authority and leadership in the church. He promises Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven. We need to experience Jesus as our Lord and Savior and surrender our lives to him. The knowledge of Jesus as Lord and personal Savior should become a living, personal experience for each Christian. This is made possible by listening to Jesus through the daily, meditative reading of the Bible, by talking to Jesus through daily, personal and communal prayers, by offering our lives on the altar with Jesus whenever we attend Holy Mass and by leading a sacramental life. The next step is to surrender our lives to Jesus by rendering humble and loving service to others with the strong conviction that Jesus is present in every person. Lastly, praise and thank God in all the events of our lives, both good and bad, realizing that God’s loving hands are behind every moment of our lives. From today’s reading we learn that sometimes in life, we do not understand why things happen the way they do. But surely, God - who is everywhere, knows all, and sees all - is in control of all situations. Every event, although mysterious at the time of its occurrence, serves a spiritual purpose for our individual spiritual growth and for the benefit of the Church as a whole. This week, let us take the time to reflect on our past. Let us take the time to reflect on the mysterious ways of the Lord that have led us to where we are today. Let us take the time to perceive what our Heavenly Father has done for us so we may grow in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. When our eyes are opened to the mysteries of the Lord, let us take a moment to thank Him for all He has done for us, glorifying Him in His Most Holy Name.

Z Biurka Ojca Jerzego

Madonna z Jasnej G ry

Autor obrazu, choć namalował Chrystusa jako Dzieciątko, to jednocześnie uczynił Go człowiekiem dorosłym. Zrabowali naczynia liturgiczne i klasztorne skarby.

¿Estás dispuesto a seguir a Jesucristo?

“I am the Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners.” Such is the way the Mother of God introduced herself to a twenty-eight-year-old Belgian immi-grant, Adele Brise, on October 9, 1859. The pious young woman was on her eleven mile walk home to Robinsonville (now Champion), Wisconsin, after attending Mass in Bay Settlement ... It stands on the site of the re-ported Marian apparition to a Belgian-born woman, Sister Adele Brise, in the year 1859.

The apparition was formally approved on December 8, 2010, by Bishop David Rick-en, becoming the first Marian apparition approved by the Catholic Church in the United States. And in 2016, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) officially designated these grounds as a National Shrine. (retrieved from https://relevantradio.com/our-lady-of-good-help)

BE A ROCK Peter’s history as a follower or friend of Jesus is a bit spotty. It might be natural to wonder if Jesus, in giving him the keys to the kingdom, didn’t feel a bit like a parent giving a teenager the keys to the family car. But it was at the moment when God’s power and presence broke through everything else to raise up Peter’s great profession of faith in Christ as Messiah that Jesus chose to establish the bond between the loving, forgiving mercy of heaven and our vocation to be witnesses of that love, mercy, and forgiveness on earth. Like any parent, Jesus no doubt foresaw the failings, the irresponsible maneuvers or impaired senses, the collisions that the church would be headed for. But, most importantly, he also saw us at that moment as God prefers to see us: capable of manifesting great faith, with a willingness to remain at the feet of Christ to understand what it truly means to be Messiah and Christ. As the letter to the Romans points out to us today, we have not known the mind or the wisdom of God, but God knows us and still chooses to manifest the reign of justice, joy, beauty, and peace through us. Let this be our vocation. Let us always strive to be solid ground on which the church of Jesus Christ can be founded and on which it can continue to be built. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Eucharistic Prayer II is a popular choice for Mass since it is both simple in structure and short. It is written with a preface, which is the section after the dialogue “The Lord be with you . . . Lift up your hearts . . . Let us give thanks,” which introduces all the Eucharistic Prayers. The preface states the reason for the eucharistic assembly on that occasion, and there are dozens of them covering almost every imaginable gathering for prayer, some specific to feasts, others for Masses for the dead or for other needs. The preface attached to the second Eucharistic Prayer may be dropped in favor of a more appropriate choice, especially one of the prefaces for weekdays. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal says that Eucharistic Prayer II is best suited for weekdays or “special circumstances.” In practice, however, it has become the common Sunday prayer because of its brevity and its comfortable familiarity. It also includes an optional phrase for adding the name of a deceased person remembered in the Mass, and therefore is often prayed at funerals. Article 50 of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy specified that the rites are to be simplified and restored “to the vigor they had in the tradition of the Fathers.” The rebirth of this ancient Roman prayer is a worthy response to this call. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Centering Prayer – is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer by preparing ourselves to receive this gift. It is an attempt to present

the teachings of earlier time in an updated form. Center-ing prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer:

rather, it gives a new light and depth of meaning on them. It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of

prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him and personal transformation.

NEW ALTAR SERVERS TRAINING Have you made your First Holy Communion?

If the answer is “YES”, then you invited to become an Altar Server. Serving at Mass is a great honor because you get to be so close to Jesus when He comes to us on the altar. Most importantly, YOU are the one who lead the people to focus on the celebration of the Eucharist. We need devoted and responsible boys and girls to show their love and dedication to Jesus by serving at Mass.
