Annual Report 2011-12

Departmental Events:The Department organized a one day faculty enrichment programme on SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) with Professor V.V.Haragopal, Head,Department of Statistics, O.U for UG & PG. teachers on 26-09-2011.

Seminars Conducted:Mr. P. Bhaskar Reddy, Lecturer in Statistics was the resource person for a two dayworkshop on SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) to the faculty of thecollege, to enrich their skills in statistical software on 9th & 10th of Jan, 2012.Guest lectures:Mr. P. Bhaskar Reddy, Lecturer in Statistics is rendering his services as a guestlecturer to the Department of Forensic Science, Osmania University in “BioStatistics”.Seminars Attended:Mr. D. Srinivas Reddy & Mrs. G. Sunitha have attended a one day Conference cumSeminar on 02-02-2012 conducted by Department of Mathematics, OsmaniaUniversity on “Multiple Integrals“.

Parent Teacher Meeting:The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in association with the Department ofPhysics & Electronics has conducted a parent teacher meeting of III B.Sc students on08-07-2011. Some of the parents responded positively to the meeting headed byVice Principal Rev. Fr. Sunder. The Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Sunder addressed thegathering and discussed with the parents regarding attendance, regularity,punctuality of the students on placement opportunities to the students. The facultymembers interacted with the parents to know the difficulties to the students.

Josephiesta:The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has conducted an inter collegiate quizprogramme “Sci U Math” for under graduates on 13th Dec 2011 as a part ofcelebration of the cultural festival Josepheista-2011. 9 teams from various collegesparticipated in the event.

Student’s life in St Joseph’s: “Students life in St Joseph’s” is the Documentaryfeature film well produced and directed by II B.Sc (M.S.Cs) students which depictsthe life of a student in St Joseph’s college in beautiful manner.

TAMBOLA: Department of Mathematics & Statistics has conducted “TAMBOLA”programme for under graduates on 13th & 14th Dec 2011 as a part of celebration ofthe cultural festival Josepheista-2011. 9 teams from various colleges participated inthe event.

COLLAGE: The Department also conducted a poster presentation competition“COLLAGE” on CDMA vs. GSM.The Department also conducted a competition on the power point presentation inthe topic called LCD vs. LED.

Extension Activity Report 11-12Event: A Visit to cherish foundation-orphanage

Objective: To encourage a sense of sharing among the students with the people inthe society, besides their regular academic programme.With the spirit of Christmas on 9th December,2011, 30 students of II B.scMathematics & Statistics visited an orphanage, CHERISH FOUNDATION near Uppal,Hyderabad. They are delighted to contribute items like Note books, Stationary items,Clothes etc. There students conducted various activities like drawing competition,dance competition and talent show.

The students of B.Sc. attending the orientation programme on personalitydevelopment.Curricular Activities:

The Department conducted Remedial classes for backlog students of II and IIIB.Sc. The Department conducted Tutorial classes for slow learners of the I, II andIII B.Sc students. The Department conducted student seminars for I, II and III B.Sc students toenhance their communication skills.
