PRAY AND FAST FOR VOCATIONS

VOCATIONS PRAYERGenerous God, You show us the way that leads to everlastinglife. Through Baptism, You have called us to proclaim theGood News. Bless and strengthen those who have made acommitment of service in the Church. Guide and give wisdomto those discerning their vocation. Enrich our Church withdedicated married and single people, with Deacons, Priests, and with people in Consecrated Life. Filled with Your HolySpirit we ask this blessing that we, Your people, may followJesus, our Good Shepherd, now and always. Amen.

THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

The effect of our sharing in the Body and Blood ofChrist is to change us into what wereceive. -Pope St. Leo the Great

O God, Who in this wonderful Sacramenthave left us a memorial of YourPassion, grant us, we pray, so to reverethe sacred mysteries of Your Body andBlood that we may always experience in ourselves thefruits of Your redemption. Who live and reign with Godthe Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

SUNDAY MASS BEGINS AGAIN!

With Restrictions

Under the new guidelines issued by the state, we areable to safely gather in our Church, once again, withrestrictions. Parishes may reopen for weekend Masseswith a congregation not to exceed 30% of the Churchbuilding’s capacity (allowing for approximately 200people). For your safety, all social distancing andsanitizing guidelines will be followed.

Our Church is now open for Daily Mass, in theChurch Chapel, during the week. WeekendMasses will be celebrated on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.,and on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with a Spanish Massat 1:30 p.m. We hope to continue to livestream the 10:30a.m. Mass each Sunday.

It is important that we continue to protect the health of all who are involved. This is especially the case for those most vulnerable, including the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. The dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass will remain in effect until further notice. No one is required to participate in Mass during this time. While the obligation to attend Mass is dispensed, the faithful who are not able to attend Mass in the Church are to keep the Lord's Day holy by some other means. For example, they should tune in to a live-

streamed Mass, read and reflect on Sacred Scripture, pray the rosary, or some other devotion.

Look for regular updates from the Diocese of Metuchenat www.diometuchen.org/coronavirus or visit our Parishwebsite at www.stjosephparishfamily.com

Our Church is now open for Confessions, in theChurch Chapel, on Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. untilnoon.

SUNDAY READINGSFirst Reading - Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16aSecond Reading - 1 Corinthians 10:16-17Gospel - John 6:51-58

Manna from HeavenBefore He gave His body and blood on the cross for the

salvation of the whole world, Jesus gave His body and bloodto His disciples in the form of bread and wine, instructingthem to continue this practice in memory of Him. Like theLord providing water and manna in the desert, Jesus providesfood and drink to sustain us, taking it one step further bytransforming it to His own Body and Blood. As we receivethe Eucharist, let us realize the sustenance we are given. Maythe Eucharist we share strengthen and enliven us as we bringJesus with us to the world.Copyright © GIA Publications

HUMAN LIFE IS SACREDEvery human person is created in the image andlikeness of God. The conviction that human lifeis sacred and that each person has inherent dignitythat must be respected in society lies at the heart

of Catholic social teaching. Calls to advancehuman rights are illusions if the right to life itselfis subject to attack. We believe that every human

life is sacred from conception to natural death; that people aremore important than things; and that the measure of everyinstitution is whether or not it enhances the life and dignity of thehuman person. -United States Bishops: Faithful Citizenship, - CivicResponsibility for a New Millennium, 1999

PRAYER FOR REVERENCE FOR LIFEAlmighty God, giver of all that is good, we thank You for theprecious gift of human life:

. for the life in the womb, coming from Your creative power;

. for the life of children, making us glad with their freshnessand promise;. for the life of young people, hoping for a better world;. for the life of people who are disabled, teaching us that everylife has value;. for the life of the elderly, witnessing to the ageless values ofpatience and wisdom.

Like Blessed Mary, may we always say “ YES” to Your gift. Maywe defend it and promote it from conception to its natural end. And bring us at last, O Father, to the fullness of eternal life inJesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Archdiocese of Vancouver BC))

“Remember the words of Jesus to the Twelve as they were tossedon the waves of an uncertain sea, ‘It is I. Do not be afraid.’ (John

6:20). The Lord is faithful and always calls on us to trust. Withsuch a situation, we are called to more prayer, as are all of thefaithful.” -Bishop James Checcio

PRAY DAILY FOR OUR TROOPSHeavenly Father, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the menand women who serve our Country, and for the sacrifices theirfamilies make so that we can all enjoy the blessing of freedom. Help them to see You workingin their daily lives, whether in the field, at home, or abroad. Surround them with Your mighty angels; protect them in Yourmercy; cover them with Your grace. Guard their hearts whilethey are far from loved ones, and bless them with moments tocherish when they are together. Hold these families close, Lord. May they look to You for the strength and peace that only Youcan give. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
