THEHOLYFATHER’SPRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE
The Way of the HeartWe pray that all those who suffer may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the heart of Jesus.
“LIVING THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL,” the theme of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, inspires us, as people of faith, to share joyfully the Good News of Christ to those who most need to feel His love. Works of kindness and assistance, sometimes in the smallest way, can bring about a profound change in a person’s life. Through the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, we have an opportunity to bring about a positive change in the lives of many of God’s people. Through your generosity, you are supporting the various ministries and programs that are vital in spreading His love. Next week is Commitment Weekend for the Appeal, at which time you can make your gift or pledge. Our parish has been asked to raise $41,684.49. We can accomplish this if, after prayerful consideration, everyone gives what they can. Any amount raised over our goal will be returned to our parish to be used for our particular needs.
CEMETERY BOARD VACANCY: There is a vacancy on the St. Joseph Cemetery Board. The board meets monthly, the second Friday of the month at 2:00 p.m., to guide the maintenance and development of Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Board members will also be active in the maintenance and improvement of the cemetery. KROGER COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM: Have you joined? If not, it’s a way to increase donations to our parish without increasing your own personal giving. All you do is: At your local Kroger store, sign up for a Kroger Plus card, you may already have one. Then enroll online at kroger.com. Click on Community Rewards under the Savings and Rewards tab, I’m a customer and follow the registration instructions. Then every time you shop there, a percentage of your bill is donated to St. Joseph’s from Kroger. The parish receives quarterly checks from Kroger based on the spending of enrolled parishioners. They are very willing to donate to our parish. All you need to do is register. New members can enroll by searching our Community Rewards number, XC546, or searching for ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH. Kroger Rewards had 38 registered households who contributed $216.47 for the past quarter.
SEEKING VOLUNTEERS! We have a few summer projects and are looking for volunteers to help complete them. Can be done in the evenings or on the weekends if preferred. Please review the available weeks on the website and click on the button to sign up. You are signing up to volunteer at the Mercy Garden for a week at a time to help weed, water, and harvest. The week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Plan to work in the garden 2-4 times during the week for 1-2 hours each time. Please fill out the volunteer log located in the garden cabinet when you arrive and when you leave so we can verify your hours. Any questions, contact Sarah & Joe Stitt at (740) 504-9082.
USHERS NEEDED – St. Joseph is open and Ushers are needed to help with the Mass. We are looking for people to help with usher duties for the month of July or August. If you are interested in Ushering in July or August, here are the Guidelines for doing so:
Please assist with the following duties – Please try and be at the Church 30 minutes before Mass is scheduled.
•Must be under the age of 65 at this time due to being in a high risk age group. Sorry, that is a guideline for the Diocese.
•Greeting people at the door to make sure they have a mask on. No mask, they will be asked to leave. We will NOT have masks available for parishioners.
•Seat parishioners. Please take into consideration the 6 ft separation rule. The church pews have been marked off for your assistance. First come, first served. When your pews are full, please let parishioners know that the church is at capacity and they will need to visit a different scheduled Mass.
•Release pews for Communion. There should be no need to re-seat after Communion.
•Take up collection. When collected, take basket to the Sacristy and make sure the door is locked when you close it.
•Dismissal at the end of Mass by pews.•Pass out bulletins.•Assist parishioners should they have an emergency.•Cleaning after Mass – wiping down door handles, pews,
handrails and restrooms (if used).Restrooms will be CLOSED (unless an emergency). Fr. Ted has addressed this in our opening letter to the parishioners.
Ushers will be required to wear a MASK and GLOVES, which will be provided.

OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP: Feast Day: June 27.
“Our Lady of Perpetual Help,” is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary as represented in a 15th century Byzantine Icon. Known in the Eastern Orthodox Church as the “Virgin Theotokos of the Passion,” it is revered by Christians and has been reproduced and distributed to the faithful throughout the world. The icon depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus, who sees the Archangels Gabriel and Michael carrying a lance and cross, instruments of His Passion and Death, is frightened and turns to his Holy Mother for consolation. The icon is installed at the Church of Saint Alphonsus in Rome where it has been venerated for hundreds of years.The image reminds us that just as our Savior found comfort in Mary, so, too, can we likewise. Prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Help: “O Mother of Perpetual Help! With the greatest of confidence I approach you to implore your aid. You have seen the wounds of your Son and His Blood shed for our salvation. You know how He desires our salvation. Because of this, I kneel before you and beseech you to obtain for me the mercy of which I stand in such great need. O Mary, intercede for us to the Lord Jesus; I do not trust in my own merits, but in your powerful intercession. I trust in your goodness and motherly love. Hear our prayers and answer them, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.”
