My Dear Parish Family,

Worth repeating… My father was in the Air Force and served our country well. It was a hardship for my mother because she had to raise a couple of my siblings on her own. But she did it well and made the sacrifice. We all make sacrifices for what we believe in. First, to God. We do this because He gave His only Son as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. The least we can do is to follow Him well. He created all things. The world we live in is not ours but we enjoy all the fruits it provides. We must defend our freedom from those who wish us harm. Our Veterans did just that, and continue to do so. Our country is far from perfect. But it always stood for justice and peace. The Statue of Liberty and the American Flag are symbols of that. We are all the huddled masses that long to be free and live in a world where we all get to live together in harmony. Those who went before us gave their lives for this purpose. We honor them today with our prayers and gratitude for all that they gave to us. This afternoon at 4:00pm in the Church, our Choir will present a Veteran’s Day Concert for us all to enjoy. We have invited Veterans to come and join us so we can show them our gratitude. Won’t you carve out some time to sit a while and enjoy some songs that make us proud to be living in this great country? Go Bless America! With Love & Prayers, Fr. Jim Worth Your Pastor

OUR DOSE OF LAUGHTER

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT There’s a flyer in the Bulletin about the Collection for the Campaign for Human Development. The envelope in your packet has several names for it. This charity is sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. It does wonderful work. Sojourners magazine mentioned one of the projects supported by the Campaign. A woman was looking for seed money to open a factory where immigrants could work. Since it was to be a “for profit” company, many charities would/could not support it. However, the reason that it was a “for profit” company is that the workers would own the company. The Campaign stepped in with seed money and now the company is thriving and so are the employees. That’s the kind of concrete action that truly helps people. This is one of my favorite charities. You can find envelopes at the Church doors. Thank you for whatever you can do. ~ Joan Walsh

WE REMEMBER We are grateful to God for the many blessings we have received this year in our Religious Education Program. During the month of November, we pray for our departed loved ones. We also give thanks to God for His bountiful goodness to our family and friends.
