ACCESS RAMP AT RECTORY We have installed a handicap access ramp at the Rectory. If you use a wheelchair, walker, or just have problems climbing steps, you may now come to the office without having to use steps. We do not have a designated handicap parking space, but you may park close to the building and there is a small ramp from the parking lot up to the sidewalk and from there, up the long ramp to the door. We will be installing handrails soon. We hope this will make it easier for our mobility challenged parishioners to come to the office. Please call if you have questions. Fr. Manny

ANNUAL MINISTRY APPEAL Each year the Diocese has an annual ministry ap-peal. This appeal sustains the work of many im-portant offices within the Diocese such as clergy formation, religious education, seminarians, tribu-nal, youth camps/youth ministry and others. The annual ministry appeal is different from the capital campaign and serves different needs. The goal for our parish this year is $17,566. Any funds raised above that amount are returned directly to the par-ish. Many of you have already received a letter from the Bishop about the appeal. This weekend, we will have our in-pew appeal. This will give everyone an opportunity to pledge what they are able to contribute to this important work. Thank you for your generosity.

FINANCE COUNCIL UPDATE I would like to thank Silvia Garcia for her many years serving on our Parish Finance Council. I am grateful to her for all her assistance. Rogelio Herrera is joining Robert Johnson and Bill Henry on the Finance Council. LENTEN REGULATIONS The Diocese of Santa Rosa observes the following discipline during Lent: • Fridays of Lent and Good Friday are days of

abstinence from meat for all persons who have completed their fourteenth year of age. It is highly recommended that children from ages seven to fourteen years also follow the law of abstinence.

• Good Friday is also a day of fast. The law of

fasting permits only one full meal a day, but it does allow the taking of some food in the morning and a second light meal at noon or in the evening, as you prefer. Persons who have completed their eighteenth year to the begin-ning of their sixtieth (60) year are obligated to fast.

• All Catholics are encouraged to receive Holy

Eucharist frequently during Lent and to receive the Sacrament of Penance so that all may be prepared to celebrate more fully the paschal mystery. Those who have received their first Holy Communion are to receive Holy Com-munion during the Easter season. Easter sea-son begins with Easter Sunday and continues through May 24 (Pentecost Sunday).
