April 24, 2016: Praise Dance Festival, 4:30pm, Spratt 101a. Come celebrate the “Joy of Dancing” at the 11th annual show-me praise dance festival with teams from both Kansas and Missouri.

April 26, 2016: Stand Against Racism: Charlene Carruthers, 7pm, Spratt 101a. Charlene A. Carruthers is a Black, queer feminist community organizer and writer with over 10 years of experience in racial justice, feminist and youth leadership development movement work. She currently serves as the national director of the Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100), an activist member-led organization of Black 18-35 year olds dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people.

May 3, 2016: Multicultural Graduate Dinner, 5:30pm, Enright 214-216a. A dinner to celebrate the accomplishments of our students of color who are graduating while connecting them to alumni of Missouri Western who can assist them in their career field of choice.

January 21, 2016: “Selma, Lord, Selma” movie, 6pm Spratt 101 a. A story about 2 African American girls who participate in the voting rights act march from Selma to Montgomery Alabama and remain strong in the face of racism and violence. Popcorn will be available.

January 22, 2016: MLK Week Candlelight Vigil, 7pm, Kelley Commons a. Candlelight Vigil hosted by the Black Student Union. Candles will be provided. January 26, 2016: Meet the World, 4pm, Blum 218-219a. Speed Meeting event with your new friends from all over the World. You will get to know and mingle with a great number of MWSU students in a short amount of time. Free event that feels like you have traveled the world without getting jet-lag.

Be a part of history by dressing up as an Influential African American in our History and participate in a photo shoot to be unveiled at the Black Heritage Ball. Charles Drew was an African American surgeon who pioneered methods of storing blood plasma for transfusions and organized the first large-scale blood bank in the U.S. To sign up to donate blood please visit the American Red Cross website to sign up for an appointment. April 24, 2016: Praise Dance Festival, 4:30pm, Spratt 101a. Come celebrate the “Joy of Dancing” at the 11th annual show-me praise dance festival with teams from both Kansas and Missouri.

April 26, 2016: Stand Against Racism: Charlene Carruthers, 7pm, Spratt 101a. Charlene A. Carruthers is a Black, queer feminist community organizer and writer with over 10 years of experience in racial justice, feminist and youth leadership development movement work. She currently serves as the national director of the Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100), an activist member-led organization of Black 18-35 year olds dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people.

May 3, 2016: Multicultural Graduate Dinner, 5:30pm, Enright 214-216a. A dinner to celebrate the accomplishments of our students of color who are graduating while connecting them to alumni of Missouri Western who can assist them in their career field of choice.
