Parent Teacher Conferences

The Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on

Wednesday, November 9 and Thursday, November

10, 2016 for grades K-8. The 6th, 7th and 8th Grade

students will meet individually. The conferences will

be from 2:45 to 7 pm both days (with a break for

dinner for teachers). The conferences are sched-

uled in 15-minute increments. This year all confer-

ences will be scheduled through Option C. Begin-

ning today, you can enter your account in Option C

to choose the date and time of your conference. If

you need more time with the teacher to identify con-

cerns, we will schedule a conference on another

date with more time.

Office reminders!

Just a couple of reminders to parents with the winter season approaching…….

1. School Closings and Delays: Make sure your Option C information is updated. That is your first

and foremost way to know if school is closed or on a delay. Please remember that if either Ross or Hamil-ton

City schools are closed St. Joe will be closed. If the district that buses your child into school on a delay your

students are on a delay. We will use the Option C system if the entire school is on a delay only. Keep in

mind that if a school is on a delay and you may bring your student in at regular time, BUT if that school can-

cels there will be no transportation home for your students.

2. Outdoor Recess: Students will be outside for recess unless the temperature or wind chill is below

32 degrees. Please make sure students have appropriate outer wear for recess.

3. Ill Students: It is approaching cold and flu season...so if students have a fever they need to be fe-

ver free (without the aid of meds) for 24 hours before returning to school. Please keep them home if they are

vomiting, have diarrhea , have pink eye (itchy, crusty, groopy, drippy eyes), severe cold systems etc. If they

are feeling really bad it might be best to keep them home. If you contact the office we will arrange for home-

work to be sent home to students or picked up in the office at the end of the school day.

4. Ill Students #2: If your students is going to be staying home, PLEASE email or call the office be-

fore 8:30 a.m. to report the absence. We are required by the State of Ohio to have verification of the child’s

absence. You can always leave a message on the school phone at any time.

5. School Start Time: We have had quite a few students arriving at school VERY close to our 7:30

a.m. start time. Students should really be at school at 7:25 a.m. This is when they leave the gym and report

to the classrooms. By 7:30 a.m. they have begun working on the days assignments.

PTO Meeting Our next PTO meeting for the 2016-2017 school year

is Thursday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

All SJCS parents are invited to participate in this active

group that provides many opportunities for our stu-

dents. This is a great way to get involved in school and

meet other school parents. All attendees are entered
