SHANNON MORGAN ~ EDITOR
Dear Parishioners,
Here we are in the month of October. The Halloween decorations
are on full display in our retail stores and the leaves are changing
colors with cooler temperatures around the corner. In faith October
is a special month that not only prepares us for All Hallows Eve but
it is the month of one of our most special prayers. It is the month of
the Rosary.
I would like to invite everyone to renew your devotion to the Holy
Rosary if it’s not already being honored in your prayer life. The
word itself means ‘rose garden’. Let’s walk in the rose garden
through this prayer.
Let me give you an example. I met the non-Catholic who did not live a very holy lifestyle so
one day in jail, his brother came to bail him out and it’s not the first time. As his brother
approached him, he told his brother that he was staying in jail this time and face what he has
coming to him. As he was sitting in jail mauling over all the wrong choices he has made in his
life, he remembered his grandmother. Hi grandmother was a good Catholic woman who was
faithful to the mass and always walked around with those beads, as he called it. So he said to
himself, ‘why not, what do I have to lose’? He started saying something that sounded like a
rosary who knows what he said since he didn’t know it. He recalled some of the prayers his
grandmother recited and some of the prayers from movies and even though it probably wasn’t
the best recitation of the Holy Rosary, it felt different. He felt this warmth, this grace come
over him that just lifted him up out of his darkness and showed him a deep love that he has
never felt before. After that moment he told himself that he is going to join the Catholic faith,
give up alcohol and porn, marry his live in girlfriend with her three children and give his life
completely to God.
I can tell it’s been five years when that occurred and he hasn’t wavered one bit in his dedication
to God. He did marry his girlfriend with her three wonderful children whom they address him
as Daddy. He did join the Catholic faith and is very much faithful to his devotion to the Holy
Rosary. Today he is a high school football coach in Wyoming and has adopted a Franciscan
lifestyle with his family. I am very proud to have known him and he continues to be an
inspiration to this day. Our Holy Mother has a way of bending her Son’s ear and never under
estimate the power of the Rosary. What a beautiful rose garden it is.

usually does not begin until after the Spaghetti Supper. We will need to coordinate with the
parents of our children to get started.
Religious Education: PRE classes began on September 10th, with 33 students registered. A lot
of credit goes to Tismina Toh for going out and recruiting parents to register their children.
There are 3 students in the Reconciliation/First Communion class. RCIA has started and hoping
to pick up more interested people as the year goes on.
Building and Grounds: Still trying to purchase the small area on University by the cemetery.
We are trying to get the damage to the rectory sidewalk fixed by the company that damaged it.
Church brickwork and sealing, plus stained glass window resealed and painted has been
finished.
