Events/handouts/ fundraiser policy

Any group or individual holding an event on St. Joseph property must fill out an appropriate form, and have it signed by Fr. Nicholas in advance. If you would like the event advertised in the oral announcements, a written copy must be submitted to the church office by Wed at 4 pm. Please plan your activities in advance so that we can properly plan for its success. Forms are available in the office or by email

Make a resolution to participate more actively in the Church.

Counters for the collections – making sure we have an accurate record of the

offertory is essential to the running of our parish. Training and help is provided.

Altar servers – Helping to prepare the altar table and assisting the priest is a

beautiful way to serve the Lord! Anyone who has received First Communion is

eligible.

Ushers – a warm greeting can make all the difference for someone visiting for

the first time or after a long absence! Please help by showing others the loving

face of Christ.

Eucharistic Ministers - prayerfully serve the people of Holy Family by distributing

the Body and Blood of Christ during Eucharistic celebrations.

Retreat Opportunities

Jan. 17 is the final deadline for youth to register for DYC (Feb. 12-14) is Jan. 12. No registrations will be taken after that date. Discovery (Feb. 26-28) deadline is Jan. 17. DYC is open to all 8-12th graders- cost is $90. Discovery Retreat is open to 9th & 10th only (DYC deadline corrected from printed bulletin)

Ordinary Time Question: Ordinary Time makes up most of the

liturgical year in the Catholic Church. What does

Ordinary Time mean?

Answer: Because Ordinary Time refers to the

period of the Catholic Church's liturgical year

that fall outside of the major seasons (Advent,

Christmas, Lent, and Easter), and because of

the connotations of the term "ordinary" in

English, many people think Ordinary Time

refers to the parts of the Church year that are

unimportant. Nothing could be further from

the truth.

Ordinary Time is called "ordinary" because the

weeks are numbered. The Latin word

ordinalis, which refers to numbers in a series,

stems from the Latin word ordo, from which

we get the English word order. Thus, Ordinary

Time is in fact the ordered life of the Church—

the period in which we live our lives neither in

feasting (as in the Christmas and Easter

seasons) or in more severe penance (as in

Advent and Lent), but in watchfulness and

expectation of the Second Coming of Christ.
