    St Johns Wood History

    St John's Wood is in the City of Westminster, to the north-

    west side of Regent's Park. It was once part of the Great

    Middlesex Forest and was later owned by the Knights of St

    John of Jerusalem, which gave the neighbourhood its

    name. St John's Wood's leafy backdrop paved the way for

    hunting in the area, spearheaded by Henry VIII.

    London. Development of the area started back in the 19th

    Many of London's most famous locations are accessible

    on foot from St John's Wood, although the

    neighbourhood does have its own Underground station

    on the Jubilee line, should residents wish to travel by

    public transport. The tube line gives direct access to

    Westminster, London Bridge, Canary Wharf and
