(Woodstock, Bennett and Phoenicia)! Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Supplies are needed by August 18th.

A collection bin will be located in our church lobby. Suggested Back to School Shopping

List: Backpacks, pencils, pencil sharpener, glue sticks, crayons, markers, scissors

FAITH AND HOPE

Faith and hope are closely united in today’s readings. The Israelites knew when the Passover was coming, and so were not in fear, but had faith and courage, “putting into effect with one accord the divine institution.” In this we can see a foretell-ing of the Eucharist that we celebrate according to Christ’s command, “Do this in memory of me.” We see that Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob died in faith, although they did not see fulfillment of the promise. We live in hope that our faith will be fulfilled every time we cele-brate this sacrament. We too are not to be afraid, but to have hope that our faith will be fulfilled in the coming of Christ. Blessings, Fr. Thomas Kiely

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy

Day of Obligation.

Please join us on Wednesday, Aug. 14th, 5:30pm Vigil Mass at St. John’s in Centerville

and Thursday, Aug. 15th, 9am & 7:30pm at St. John’s in

Woodstock and 10am at St. John’s in Centerville.

This weekend’s second collection is for Pastoral Solidarity for the Church in Africa.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Fr. Kiely will be going on vacation from Aug. 19-23. We will NOT have weekday Masses during this time! We wish Fr. Kiely a relaxing and enjoyable vacation!

QUICK NOTES

Starting in September, we will be dividing the baking and cooking volunteers into two teams. This will make it easier for our coordinator, Kate Berryan, to organize the goodies for the concerts. Also, it will mean that you will be called to bake or cook goodies only once every two months. This way, no one is being asked to do too much. You will find the lists on the bulletin board in the back of the church. Please check your email and phone number for accuracy. If we have outdated information, please write in the correct phone number or email. In three cases for Team One we do not have all the information. If you could please fill in the blanks alongside your name, that would be wonderful. If your team is up and you will not be available to cook, please ask someone on Team One or Team Two to sub for you. This will make it easier for Kate to coordinate every-thing. We will announce when each team is up for cooking. It would be very much appreciated if you would call or email Kate to let her know that you will be bringing something and what that will be. Our goal is to have an assortment of baked goods and savory food. Team One will be up for our concert in September. We will make announcements accordingly. Kate’s Contact Information: Phone: 845-217-7183 Email: [email protected] Thank you so much for your efforts and your kind coopera-tion in calling Kate to tell her what you will be bringing. Very truly yours, Jennie Konior
