ST. JOHN THE APOSTLE PARISH HALL KITCHEN -- READY FOR REFURBISHING! Dear Parishioners of St. John the Apostle, The time has come for our 50+ year old parish hall kitchen to get a badly needed facelift! Father Rosenbaum and the Finance Council have approved and will fund the majority of the cost of this project. The project timeline is 6 weeks beginning in June, 2020. We’re looking forward to repairing and updating this space for all of our members to use and enjoy, and we would appreciate your support for this project benefitting our church community. The Kitchen Project committee is asking for your donations to cover the cost of the new appliances. Donations in any amount are welcome. Just place your donation in an envelope marked Kitchen Project and drop it in the collection basket at Mass or send it to the parish office. Corpus Christi—Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ on the Sunday following Trinity Sunday. This feast originated in the diocese of Liege, France (1246), based on revelations of the French num Juliana of Mont-Cornillon (1192-1258). Enthusiastic acceptance in Europe led to universal promulgation by Pope Urban IV in 1264. From its inception, the feast celebrated both the body and blood of Jesus Christ. In a sense, it duplicates the eucharistic focus of Holy Thursday, highlighting the redemptive effects of the sacrament.
