Our Lady of the Taper - June 15
Devotion to Our Lady of the Taper in Wales was
suppressed by the British in the sixteenth century. In 1952, the local bishop learned of the older de-votion, and had a new
statue created based on descriptions of the origi-
nal. A new shrine to Mary under this title was
built in 1970, and the statue was replaced by a newer bronze version in
1986
Honor your Father
Please write his name in our Father’s Day Notebook located on the stand in the back corner of the church so that he can be included in our prayers in a spe-cial way on Father’s Day. We pray for all fathers both living and dead .
HOLY NAME SOCIETY UPDATE
The soldiers of Holy Name have been busy these last two weeks!
The landscaper has laid all Grotto bricks, the whole Grotto looks very nice, we are just waiting for landscaping to complete the project.
Prior to our May 29th meeting, Charlie, Bob, Larry, Carm, Al, Fred and Jerry assembled the shelving for the Spring clean-up project.
The Spring Clean-Up Project has been active for weeks with prep work but got into full swing on Monday, June 4th and as you are reading this, the project is complete. Special thanks to CCW’s Terri and Rhonda for there preparation as well as Se-ton’s quick actions. Again the soldiers of HNS made this pro-ject successful with there efforts thru out the weeks and end-less commitment to St. John's. I personally want to thank the men, I appreciate all that they do!!!!
GOOD NEWS two parish families in need of some home project help from HNS have been serviced. Special thanks to Pat, Carm and Fred assisting the one parishioner and Larry and Eric help-ing the other parishioner. Larry and Eric's initial task has ex-panded and we will be calling on all the soldiers of HNS to as-sist in the coming days. These two works of kindness meet our Mission Statement and reinforces what the HNS is all about.
Contact 630-740-5461 for information about the Holy Name Society or if you know or are in need of project help.

REMINDER
The daily morning masses (Monday, Tues-day, Wednesday & Friday) here at St. John the Apostle are now at 7:45 AM. This is to accommodate Fr. Rosenbaum’s new schedule with St. Alexander.
May 21, 2018 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This year, Father’s Day is celebrated on June 17. There will be a special collection taken at Masses on June 16-17 to care for our infirmed and senior priests. The Fund for Diocesan Infirmed and Elderly Priests is a special way for the people of the Diocese of Joliet to express their concern for the welfare of those who have dedicated their lives in service to our pastoral care. The money in this fund goes toward priests who need help with extraordinary medical expenses or suffer a cata-strophic illness. It also provides for the care of the St. John Vianney Villa, home to several senior priests in the Dio-cese of Joliet. Prayerfully consider making a donation to help our aged and sick priests as an expression of appreciation for all they have done in exemplifying Christ’s mercy, through their spiritual guidance and celebration of the sacraments. On behalf of all the active and senior priests of the diocese, I am grateful for your prayers and for your generous support of the Father’s Day Collection for our aged and infirm diocesan priests. Please be assured of my prayers for you. Most Reverend R. Conlon
