day, June 9th from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. at the parish center. Your paid, 20-Week Club ticket includes a party featuring music from “The Auslanders,” adult chicken dinner for two — served from 5:00 - 8:00

pm — and a chance for prizes. Volunteers for the dining room and the kitchen will be needed for the Chicken BBQ. Your help will be greatly appreciated. “Many hands make light work!” Volunteer sign-up

forms can be found in the Church Vestibule. Please fill one out and return it to an Usher, or drop in the weekend collection basket.

Marriage Moment - “A married woman must, when called upon, quit her devotions to God at the altar to find God in her household affairs.” (St. Frances of Rome). One can reverse this quote and substitute “a married man.” It’s still true. The voca-tion of marriage and parenthood is holy. It’s one way

of knowing and serving God.

“How Do We Deal With … A Loved One Who

Leaves the Church?” Local author and speaker Lorene Hanley Duquin will discuss why people leave the church, why they come back, and what we can do to encourage them to return to the faith. This session will take place on Tuesday, June 5 at 7 pm

at St. John Paul II Parish Community Room, 2052 Lakeview Rd., Lake View. This will be a one hour presentation with Q&A to follow. No reservation required. Light refreshments will be available. This is part of the “How Do We Deal With…” speaker series at St. John Paul II Parish. For more infor-

mation, visit www.jp2parish.org. Faith Moment Reflection - In today's Gospel read-ing, the disciples resist Jesus and doubt his orders to them to "make disciples of all nations." Despite their hesitation, Jesus trusts the disciples with the respon-sibility for His work on earth. He tells them, "I am with you always." Over two thousand years later, we can see the disciples did a great job of carrying out their responsibility. Do you ever feel you are not pre-pared for the responsibility God calls you to? When this happens, stop and say a prayer. Ask God for His guidance and direction. God has entrusted you with a specific purpose in your life and He will not let you down. He is with you always. Remember this to help you: God doesn't call the equipped. He equips the

called.
