Prayer for after Holy Communion

Holy Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, I adore you deeply and I offer you the precious Body, Blood and Di-vinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacle on earth, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and in-difference with which He Himself is offended. And, for the infinite merits of his most holy Heart and of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I ask you for the conversion of poor sinners.

ARE YOU NEW TO THE PARISH? - If you are, welcome to St. John Chrysostom’s! It is wonderful to have you join us! Over the last several months I’ve noticed a lot of new faces at Mass. I think part of this is due to new developments in the City of Inglewood and the influx of new residents. But several people have told me that they’ve simply recently “discovered” our parish. If you are a regular parishioner but notice new people, please say hello and make them feel welcome.

For both new parishioners as well as for those who have been here a while, please remember that it is vitally important that the parish have an accurate record of all of our parishioners for many reasons, among which are:

- The Archdiocese allots the number of priests to a parish depending on the number of registered parishioners. - If you are going to receive a Sacrament, such as Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, or Marriage. - If you wish to enroll a child in our School - If you ever need a letter from the parish for tax purposes (IRS). - If you ever need a letter from the parish for immigration purposes - If you are going to serve as a sponsor for Baptism, Confirmation, or Matrimony here or elsewhere.

Registration forms are available in the bulletin. Please fill one out and just drop it in the collection bag when it comes around.

WE’RE MAKING GOOD PROGRESS! – Our Archdiocesan Campaign Together in Mission Campaign is progressing well. Quite a few of our parishioners have made their pledges for the 2018 year and many have even paid them off completely. That’s great! Something new this year is that several people are making their pledges and donations directly online with no need for checks, envelopes or postage. This is also wonderful progress.

However, with our goal this year of $52,060, it’s going to take an effort on the part of all of us to complete it. We still have quite a ways to go but we just got started. The important thing is that everyone participates according to their means. If you have more then give more, if you have less then give less. But everybody’s part is important. As you know, our poorer parishes and schools would not be able to keep their doors open were it not for the generosity of all Catholics throughout the Archdiocese participating in this annual campaign. The pledge envelopes are available at the doors of the church and in the rectory. You may also make your contribution online by going to our parish website: www.stjohnchrysostomparish.org and clicking the “Light of Christ” logo on the bottom center of the page. May God re-ward you!

IS EVERY ANNOUNCEMENT WORTHY OF APPLAUSE? - A few years ago I mentioned that it was not appropriate for us to applaud after Mass as if it were a performance. Thankfully, it seems our parish has gotten out of this bad habit and I am grateful. However, at some Masses when there are special announcements after Communion, everyone breaks out into applause. I’ve always found this rather odd as if a simple announcement about a retreat, etc. were worthy of ap-plause. It’s not. Once in a while, in special circumstances, a limited applause may be appropriate. For example, at our monthly celebrations of wedding anniversaries, after all the couples have renewed their vows and have been introduced to the congregation, then a brief applause may be appropriate as a sign of our congratulations. Other than those kinds of events, it is best to maintain the reverence and proper decorum appropriate for church. Thank you! In Christ and St. John Chrysostom, Father Gonzalez

¿ES NUEVO EN LA PARROQUIA? - Si es así, ¡bienvenido a San Juan Crisóstomo! ¡Es maravilloso que se une a nosotros! En los últimos meses he notado muchas caras nuevas en Misa. Creo que parte de esto se debe a los nuevos desarrollos en la Ciudad de Inglewood y la afluencia de nuevos residentes. Pero varias personas me han dicho que simplemente han "descubierto" recientemente nuestra parroquia. Si usted es un parroquiano habitual y nota personas nuevas, por favor díga-les hola y haga que se sientan bienvenidos.

Tanto para los nuevos feligreses como para aquellos que han estado aquí por un tiempo, recuerden que es muy importante que la parroquia tenga un registro preciso de todos nuestros feligreses por muchas razones, entre las cuales se encuentran:

ESTAMOS HACIENDO BUENOS AVANCES! - Nuestra Campaña Arquidiocesana Unidos en Misión está progresando muy bien. Algo nuevo este año es que varias personas hacen sus promesas y donaciones directa-mente en línea sin necesidad de cheques, sobres o estampilla. Este también es un progreso maravilloso.

Sin embargo, con nuestro objetivo este año de $ 52,060, va a tomar un esfuerzo por parte de todos nosotros para comple-tarlo. Todavía tenemos bastante camino por recorrer, pero acabamos de comenzar. Lo importante es que todos participen de acuerdo con sus medios. Si tiene más, entonces de más, si tiene menos, de menos. Pero la parte de todos es importante. Como usted sabe, nuestras parroquias y escuelas más pobres no podrían mantener sus puertas abiertas si no fuera por la generosidad de todos los católicos en toda la Arquidiócesis que participan en esta campaña anual. Afortunadamente, parece que nuestra parroquia ha salido de este mal hábito y estoy agradecido. Sin embargo, en algunas Misas cuando hay anuncios especiales después de la Comu-nión, todos rompen en aplausos. Siempre he encontrado esto bastante extraño como si un simple anuncio sobre un retiro, etc. fuera digno de aplauso. No lo es. De vez en cuando, en circunstancias especiales, un aplauso limitado puede ser apro-piado. Por ejemplo, en nuestras celebraciones mensuales de los aniversarios de bodas, después de que todas las parejas hayan renovado sus votos y hayan sido presentadas a la congregación, entonces un breve aplauso puede ser apropiado como una señal de nuestras felicitaciones. It is very important that the pledges be paid so that our parish will reach and, hopefully, exceed our goal. Once the pledge payments have exceeded our goal, we receive all of the additional funds for use in our parish ministries.
