Second Collection Next Sunday for the Society of the Propagation of the Faith’s
Annual Collection
Next weekend, we will host Father Reynie Paraon, a Priest of the Diocese of Gumaca, Phillipines. This
annual appeal assists the Mission Church, an important aspect of our prayerful concern and care for our
brothers and sisters in Mission territory. The collection will assist the Diocese of Gumaca in their efforts
to teach the Catholic Faith by establishing small communities, training lay leaders, ongoing formation for
those already in parishes, assisting with the pastoral care of those in need and assisting the Priests of
the Diocese, especially those who are sick and hospitalized. Father Paraon has been a Priest for 20 years
and is currently the Diocesan Financial Administrator, a post that he has held for the past 12 years.
Please be as generous as your means allow. Thank you in advance.

Available graves in our Parish Cemeteries
In a recent report that we had to provide to the Archdiocese, we had to count the number of available
graves in our Parish Cemeteries. To date, there are: 348 graves available for sale in St. Joseph’s
Cemetery, Millbrook, and 1,454 graves available for sale in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bangall. If you wish to
be buried in either of these Cemeteries, it might be wise to purchase your resting place in advance.
Please contact the Rectory for more information.
Church and Parish Hall Handicapped Ramps
Both of our handicapped ramps are in need of major repair and need to be addressed before the coming
winter. Work has begun on the Parish Hall ramp. The ramp will not be available for the next month, but
the front steps to the Hall are still usable. You may also use the kitchen entrance to the Hall, but then
remember there is a set of stairs to come down into the main open space. The new ramp will be
positioned in such a way to be in compliance with code regulations. The work on the Church ramp has
also begun with the pouring of new concrete sidewalk sections. The Church ramp is now no longer
accessible for the next few weeks. The new ramp will be wider than the present one. The material to
be used on both ramps will be pressure-treated AZEK decking. The railings will be made of wrought iron
matching the railings on the Church steps for the Church ramp and wrought iron matching the railings on
the Hall steps for the Hall ramp. Temporary wood railings will be used until the wrought iron ones are
fabricated and installed. Once again, thank you for your patience and cooperation during this
construction time.

UNCLE AL’S THRIFT SHOP
Does it seem that Millbrook is busier these days? Could be it’s because that thrift shop with the unusual name
and the great window displays is becoming more and more popular. Yes, Uncle Al’s is humming with activity.
Some shoppers head right for the clothing (especially when there’s a sale); others are interested in the great
assortment of dishes and crystal and home décor. Stock is constantly changing as newly donated items are placed
for sale.
Uncle Al’s saves the day!! Our story this week is a good one. On Friday afternoon last week, a very nicely dressed
young man came into the shop. With a worried look on his face, he said he was on his way to a wedding and
forgot his shoes. That’s bad under any circumstances, but he was to be the best man! And right there in our shop
was a pair of nice looking black shoes, size 12, that young man’s size. Bingo! To make the tale even better, he
found another pair of shoes in his size, and he purchased both. And that’s the truth! (One cannot lie in a Church
bulletin.)
Wouldn’t you like to be a volunteer in a fun shop like Uncle Al’? We are open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and
Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm; volunteer shifts are in 3-hour segments. Contact Irene Wing at 845-677-5510
All proceeds benefit St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception Church.
