work it was hard for him to believe. When we have trouble praying I think it can help to makea note of things you enjoy easily, things that cause you tomarvel, the ways you experience depth, or how you aresuffering. Prayer is response. God speaks to us first and somethingin us responds with gratitude, wonder, lament, yearning, intercession, repentance, or praise. One author says God is depth and horizon. God urges ustoward a deeper connection with our selves and with ourworld and with God's full Presence in both. Like thehorizon, God is also beckoning us forward. For God,forward is union in all its many forms. To fully experience God, we must surmount the hurtlesinside of us. We must be vulnerable and trust and hopethat prayer is doing something. And ultimately we mustface our deep fear that we are alone and nothing reallymatters. One of the great blessings of our church and theChristian faith are the innumerable prayers that havegone before us, that surround us all the time. Theseofferings of hope rise like incense all around us. And whoknows what good they have done to carry us a littledeeper and little further on our journey with God? How is God inviting you to respond to His infinite lovetoday?

With you on the journey,

Lisa+
