“He must increase. I must decrease.” John
Today we celebrate the Birth of John the
Baptist, a miraculous one of sorts, in that he
was born to Zachariah and Elizabeth, a couple
who was thought to be too old to have chil-
dren. Much of what we know about John
paints a very unique picture. One of a man
with an intense focus to serve his God as best
he knew how. This John couldn't even wait to
be born before rejoicing in his God as evi-
dence by his “leaping in the womb” of his
mother, when Mary who was with child went to
visit her.
The birth of John the Baptist is, in a sense,
a celebration of being on the verge of some-
thing wonderful, being on the verge of a world
about to be transformed, being on the verge
of an encounter with the living God. A God
that is right in our midst in the person of Je-
sus.
John is the precursor of Jesus. He was
sent to prepare the way for the Lord. Many
thought that he himself was the Messiah, but
John knew what his role was and carried it out
to the fullest.
Each of us like John are to go into the
world and to help others find their way to the
Lord. It was John’s endless humility that made
him so special in the eyes of the Lord. John
tells us:
“I am not worthy to untie His sandals.”
We can all learn from John’s humility as
well as his thanks and praise of the Lord.
Jesus said that John the Baptist is the greatest
of all prophets: “there is none greater then the
person of John the Baptist.
God bless,
Deacon John

Eucharistic Adoration
Our Monday day of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament ended on Monday, June 11th and will re-sume in September. Many thanks for all your spent time in prayer and adoration before the Lord. No doubt your prayer brought many favors and blessings to our parish community.
DO YOU KNOW YOUR TRIBUNAL? The Tribunal is available to help people who have experienced divorce and who may wish to remarry in the Catholic Church. When a divorce occurs, the Catholic Church always seeks to balance two realities. On one hand the durable bond of marriage. This is God’s law. On the other hand, the Church is concerned about the spiritual welfare of the people involved. Even though a Catholic wedding was celebrated, perhaps there was some deficiency in the consent of the parties involved regarding intentions, understanding or ability? The annulment procedure ad-dresses these circumstances. If you are divorced and want to marry in the Church or remarried outside the Catholic Church, please tele-phone the Tribunal Office at 222 North l7th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (215) 587-3750

Office for the New Evangelization Hope in Christ: “Spiritual Support for Addictions”
can be found at archphila.org/hope The opioid addiction has reached epidemic proportions and rates are especially high in the stat of Pennsylvania. In addition, pornography ad diction is destroying marriages at an alarming rate. Addiction, no matter what form it takes, is causing much suffering in the lives of many of our Archdiocesan families and they are looking to the Church for hope and help. The Hope in Christ webpage will serve as a centralized location where families can find the spiritual support they need in their time of suffering.

For Catholics a valid sacramental marriage is before a Priest and two witnesses in what is called the Form of Marriage. If you have been married by a Justice of the Peace or in a Civil Marriage and wish to have your marriage blessed by the Church and be able to return to the sacraments, most especially, the Sacrament of the Eucharist, please call the rectory at 215-884-3252 and ask to speak to Fr. Look What’s New!
A beautiful new statue of St. Therese of Lisieux now graces our grounds in front of our Parish Center. The statue is a gift from Mrs. Helen Toland in memory of her late husband Dr. Joseph Toland who passed away in 2016. We are most grateful to Mrs. Toland for her most generous gift and also for the beautiful stone pedestal. This new addition to our grounds instills in us a sense of prayerfulness and quite re-flections. Mrs. Toland generosity will be a blessing for gener-ations to come.

A Reflection
Many people will walk in and out of your life. But only true friends will leave footprints in you heart. To handle yourself use your head. To handle others, use your heart. Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it is his fault, if he betrays you twice, it is your fault. Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people. He who loses money loses much. He who loses a friend, loses much more. He who loses faith loses all. Beautiful young people are accidents of nature. But beautiful old people are works of art. Learn from mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself. Friends, you and me. You brought another friend and then there were three. We started our group, our circle of friends. And like that circle there is no beginning or end. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why its called the present. Eleanor Roosevelt
Spring & Summer Projects A new lighting system is being installed in the front driveway. These new lights will brighten up the pathway leading to Church which because of the darkness especially in the winter has become hazardous. Funding will be provided from
monies donated from our generous benefactors to the Jubilee and Heritage of Faith, Vision of Hope Campaigns.
