MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE
FRANCIS FOR LENT 2016
“I desire mercy, and not sacrifice” (Mt 9:13).
The works of mercy on the road of the Jubilee
The following students are representing our school in the Greater San Diego Science & Engineering Fair. Shea Briere, Maddie Hazeltine, Lauren McKittrick, Bennett Trietler, and Ella Wishchuk. This is such a great learning experience for our students and they have displayed dedication during the 9 months of science fair. Go team!
Principal’s Message
The virtue of loyalty is appropriate
during this second week of Lent.
Many of us have pledged a Lenten
sacrifice and this virtue calls us to
be faithful to that promise.
The recent visit from the WCEA Team truly affirmed our
school in the mission of Catholic education. One of the themes
of Catholic Schools Week has been that Catholic
Schools offer “Dividends for Life”, highlighting Faith,
Knowledge, Discipline and Morals. These attributes
equip our students with the tools they need to mature
into people of faith and character, basing life decisions
on what Jesus would do.
This is the time of year to reflect on the abundant blessings
that Catholic education has to offer, not just to the
student(s), but to the entire family. This blessing, that you, our
parents bestow on your children, comes with many sacrifices;
the dividends, however, last for a lifetime! Thank you all so
much for your loyalty to Catholic education and for your
diligence in submitting re-registration documents and fees.
I look forward to seeing you at the PTSG general
meeting on Tuesday night (Feb. 23). An overview of
the recent WCEA Accreditation process will be
presented, which will highlight significant
accomplishments of the school as identified by the
WCEA Visiting Team, as well as the school-identified
Action Plan. This is an exciting time for our school
community when the past has been validated and plans for the
future are envisioned.
We ask God’s continued blessings for
all we do in fulfillment of our mission to
follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Blessings for a faith-filled week,
Mrs. O’Connell

Saint Gregory the Great's Knights of Columbus have a long standing tradition of hosting a fried fish dinner every Friday during Lent. The goal is to bring the community, and the whole neighborhood, together during Lent. With volunteers both young and mature,
the event has grown beyond all expectations and has become an event that is looked forward to by all. The menu has changed from year to year, so check the parish website for more information. The Fish Fry dinners have remained both family and pocketbook friendly at just $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Bill Schemensky 858-748-5227 or [email protected].
