Many thanks to the other officers who have stepped up to lead in their service to our commu- nity: John Stavropoulos, Andrew Papanicolau, Phil Blatsos and Tim Giotas. A warm welcome to our newest board members Kelly Hebert and Cathy Moufarge and a sincere farewell to departing Chuck Smith and John Mokas for their past service. The whole community is thankful to past pres- ident Nikki Moutsioulis for her two years of leadership as she continues to serve with me on the 2015 board. I also need to thank Alice my spouse of almost 42 years for her love and full support that allows me the time and structure at home to again accept this responsibility. The task at hand is a challenge unlike times of the past this president does not have a priest to rely on to partner with for the best interests of our community. Priority number one is for our board of directors to successfully interview and then hire the very best one available to shepard us going forward. We are all working to find the right man to be our pastor. With the fact that the Assumption is also without a priest an unhealthy situation has developed which needs to be promptly dealt with before some family maybe yours maybe mined is truly hurt by this void. The Metropolis is fully aware of the Manchester situation and its inherent danger and thus the need to resolve this with- out delay. Please continue your patience and your prayers to this ordeal are over. Our stewardship drive is also very important. We must all step up with our time, talent and resources to keep St. George healthy and strong Every Sunday we see someone who have not as yet joined with a pledge to their church. More regrettably is the many we do not see, who have put off doing the right thing. Stewardship is more then money it’s about giving, giving of ones self, being part of the com- munity, joining in worship, praying together, caring about each other. There is no minimum amount so please follow your heart and make a commitment, There will soon be a phone drive to better explain our need for help, the stew- ardship committee wants to talk to you. It takes a lot of re- sources just to open our doors some $80,000 a year goes just for oil, gas and electric, many thousands more for staff and assessment to the diocese. Our future pastor while in- dispensable will also be expensive. Those that have com- mitted thank you if you have not we need your help now, we need some action on your part so we can fulfill our com- mitments back to you and your loved ones. cuB ScoutSThe Cub Scouts had a great start to the New Year! We hadour Winterfest on Jan 17th, and although the temperaturenever got above 20 degrees, we still had boys out on theice shooting off rockets, and they had a great time! Every-one was bundled and safe, and it was a great event! Win-terfest was followed by a successful Spaghetti Dinner on1/24! Again, we thank the Community for their support forthis fundraiser for our Pack! Finally, on January 28th, wehad our Hollywood Pack Meeting...with all the glitz andglamour of the Academy Awards...Scouting style!

February is shaping up to be busy. We are participating inScout Sunday on February 8th. We are also preparing forour Blue and Gold Banquet, which will include our firstArrow of Light and major "Cross Over" to Boy Scouts; andour Pinewood Derby, which is going to be March 15th. Wewill wrap up February with some Snow Tubing at McIntyreSki Area on February 27th.

Thank you all again for the support you have shown theScouting Programs!

Yours in Scouting,Jason CoteCubmaster, Pack 92

A big THANK YOU for all the hats, gloves, mittens andscarves! Donations were given to the Salvation Army. Thankyou to all who participated!

Sunday SchoolDear St. George Community,I want to take this opportunity to thank the parents andfamily members who are participating in our Sunday Schoolprogram. If you havenʼt joined us yet, itʼs not too late! Wewelcome new students at any time. Join us in 2015! TheFeast of Saint Valentine is an official feast day in the Angli-can community as well as in the Lutheran Church. The East-ern Orthodox Church officially celebrates Saint Valentinetwice, once as an elder of the church on July 6 (Saint Valen-tine the Presbyter) and once as a martyr on July 30 (Hiero-martyr Valentine). We all know that February 14th isValentineʼs Day. What you may not know is why. Itʼs still un-clear, but some historians claim it all started with a mannamed Valentinus. Valentinus was a kind physician whotook an interest in a young blind girl. With his healing skilland his deep faith he restored her sight. What we now callValentineʼs Day began when he sent the little girl a secretmessage, which she received after the Christian martyr wasexecuted on February 14. The day was first associated withromantic love in the circle of Chaucer in the high middleages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In the18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in whichpeople expressed their love for each other by presentingflowers and sending valentines. In Europe, Saint Valentineʼskeys are given to people “as a romantic symbol and invita-tion to unlock the giverʼs heart.” Whether you believe all orany of the stories surrounding Valentineʼs Day or if youchoose to celebrate or not celebrate, one thing is certain.Jesusʼs love for us and for our children. The Sunday Schoolchildren are learning that no matter what-Jesus loves us!We do not need a specific day on the calendar to show ourlove for Him. We express our love for Jesus everyday, inmany ways. We pray, go to church and like the Christianmartyr Valentinus, we help and take care of others in timeof need. I invite you and encourage our children to taketheir “Saint Valentineʼs key” and “unlock” all of their lovefor Jesus! Details for the Sunday School Spring Philanthropywill be coming soon! Stay tuned! Sincerely,Athena Moutsioulis Bevan
