The weekend of November 30 & December 1, our second collection will go towards the Diocesan Services Fund (DSF). We greatly appreciate the sacrifice of everyone that has contributed. As a parish we are $34,787 short of our goal of $138,000. The DSF is a simple way to support the outreach of many ministries to the poor and the sick as well as education. Please prayerfully consider being Christ’s hands reaching the needy by making a contribution. You will be blessed for your generosity.

The posada season is coming. But what is a “posada” you may ask…? A posada is an old Hispanic tradition where we commemorate Joseph and Mary’s arrival in Bethlehem and going from door to door to seek shelter. The posada is done for nine nights, where a different home is visited each of the nine nights. Usually they carry the pilgrims (Joseph and Mary) who are left in the hosting home overnight until the following evening when the host carries them to the new hosting home. The ritual consists of singing, prayers, meditations and rosary and ending with a light fellowship. The Hispanic Community invites our entire St. Francis de Sales community to join us in this beautiful tradition. Dates with locations will be posted in the upcoming bulletins. For any questions please call the Office of Hispanic Ministry at 713-774-7475.
Ya se aproxima el tiempo de las posadas, y la parroquia de San
Francisco de Sales esta preparándose para caminar con José y La
Virgen Maria buscando posada.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Advent
Have you ever felt that when Christmas comes around that you’re just not ready? Of all the liturgical seasons of the year, Advent is certainly the most stressful. But what is the deeper meaning of Advent? In this series, Dr. Brant Pitre shows how a deeper understanding of the ancient Jewish prophecies of the Messiah can help unlock the hidden meanings of the season of Advent. If you’ve ever wanted to be more spiritually prepared to celebrate the birth of Christ at Christmas, this is the Bible study for you, Thursday mornings at 9:30 am, beginning on December 5th to December 19th in St. John. For more information, call Vicky Quiray at 713-774-7475.
