A Message from the Principal: Planning for 2019-2020 Now that the weather has broken, and the spring plans are all underway, it is time to think about the 2019-2020 school. Some Changes are anticipat- ed for next year, with a shift in the Bell Calendar figuring prominently. To accommodate transportation constraints with our school districts, and to more confidently meet the Diocesan guidelines for instructional time, our school day will start promptly at 8:30 am. next year. Students will arrive between 8:20 am. and 8:25 am. and they will report directly to their class- rooms. They will not be held in the cafeteria in the morning. School will end at 3:10 pm. with buses departing at 3:20 pm. IOWA testing - Breakfast Boost Iowa tests run from April 1-5 this year. Thanks to Mrs. Vitabile and the teachers for instituting a morning snack to help ensure that everyone is properly fueled for this years assessments. Prior to testing, students will have a chance to fill their tanks with French toast sticks, hash browns and milk. Parents are asked to be especially vigilant in making sure the students get a good nights sleep. Fortnite can wait until April 5th. Easter Holidays, Class Trips, and First Holy Communion The holiest time of the year is upon us, and we are sure that families are looking forward to celebrating the Easter holidays. We at Saint Francis are also directing attention to some of the co-curricular and other special events that will be happening this month. First, prior to the holidays, the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades will visit Baltimore on April 12. They will be seeing significant venues including the Inner Harbor and the National Aquarium. On April 25th, the 8th grade will be spending time in our nations capital, with visits to the Capitol Building and the Hard Rock Café serving as spe- cial highlights. Our 2nd graders will be receiving their First Holy Communion on April 27th. Their 5th grade buddies are excited to participate in this special cer- emony. Second Honors Certificates were award- ed to Giovanni Cavaliere, Avianna Conklin, Christianna Fraschilla, and Shawn OBoyle in Grade 8, In Gr. 7, Francesca Fraschilla, Mary James, Alicia Jones, Zachariah McLauglin, Blake OBoyle, Robert Rein- hart, and Andrew Snyder were likewise honored.
