Catholic Quotes Pope Francis

“Give us, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which

no unworthy affection may drag down-

wards; give us an unconquered heart,

which no tribulation can wear out; give us an upright

heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Be-

stow upon us also, O Lord our God, understanding to

know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and

a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus

Christ our Lord.

Our love of God is merely a response to His love. St. John tells us that He loved us first. (1

John 4:19). Ours is the love God places in our souls so that we too are able to love. That is

why we ask him, Lord, give me the love with which you want me to love you.

We correspond with the love of God when we

love others; when we see in them the dignity proper to the human person,

made as it has been in the image and likeness of God, created with an immortal soul and called to give glory to God for all eternity.

Love is to approach that wounded man we come across on our journey each day; it is to

bind up his wounds, restore him to health and take care of him in all things. We must exert

ourselves on his behalf, making a serious ef-fort in order to bring him to God. Separation

from God is always the greatest of evils, and those separated from him are in need of our help and our urgent attention. This apostolate is a wonderful sign of our love for God, and is the

way to love him more.

Prayer for an End to Racism

Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has found a way to unite himself to every human being,

called to be one people, sisters and brothers to each other.

We ask for your help in calling on your Son, seeking forgiveness for the times

when we have failed to love and respect one another.

We ask for your help in obtaining from your Son the grace we need to overcome the evil of racism

and to build a just society.

We ask for your help in following your Son, so that prejudice and animosity

will no longer infect our minds or hearts but will be replaced with a love that respects

the dignity of each person.

Mother of the Church, the Spirit of your Son Jesus

warms our hearts: pray for us.

From "Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love", a pastoral letter against racism

Eucharistic Adoration Our Precious Lord will be available for Eucha-ristic Adoration on this First Friday, July 3, during the hours of 10 AM to 7 PM. Immediate-ly following adoration, communal praise in the form of Benediction will take place. We ask that

you join in the Holy Father’s intention: ”We pray that to-day's families may be accompanied with love, respect and guidance.” Please use the sign-up sheet in the rear of the church. It is our way of ensuring that the Blessed Sacra-ment will not be left unattended at any time. All are encour-aged to attend this most sacred event. This is our faith.

July Devotion

July is the month set aside for dedication to The Pre-cious Blood of Christ. De-votion to the Precious Blood is not an option. It is an ob-ligation for all Catholics. It is presented to us in scrip-ture. Most importantly it is given for us at every Mass.

(The First Commandment) 2083 Jesus summed up man's duties toward God in this saying: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." This immediately echoes

the solemn call: "Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God is one LORD."

God has loved us first. the love of the One God is recalled in the first of the "ten words." the commandments then make ex-

plicit the response of love that man is called to give to his God. 2086 "The first commandment embraces faith, hope, and chari-ty. When we say 'God' we confess a constant, unchangeable

being, always the same, faithful and just, without any evil. It follows that we must necessarily accept his words and have

complete faith in him and acknowledge his authority. He is almighty, merciful, and infinitely beneficent. Who could not

place all hope in him? Who could not love him when contem-plating the treasures of goodness and love he has poured out on

us? Hence the formula God employs in the Scripture at the be-ginning and end of his commandments: 'I am the LORD.'" 2090 When God reveals Himself and calls him, man cannot

fully respond to the divine love by his own powers. He must hope that God will give him the capacity to love Him in return

and to act in conformity with the commandments of charity. Hope is the confident expectation of divine blessing and the

beatific vision of God; it is also the fear of offending God's love and of incurring punishment. 2093 Faith in God's love encompasses the call and the obliga-

tion to respond with sincere love to divine charity. the first commandment enjoins us to love God above everything and all

creatures for him and because of him.

The Spiritual Communion (Those who are unable to make sacramental Communion

with Christ by participating in the Eucharist, can express the desire to receive him in their spirit with these words that help to

make spiritual communion with him:)

My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. I love you above all things and desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen
