The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating highschool senior who is a member of the parish. The recipient will berecognized during the senior Mass celebrated for the 2020 graduatingclass. Mt. Calvary Cemetery Clean-upMt. Calvary Cemetery Clean-upThere will be a total cleanup at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IAstarting after March 15th and will continue as weather permits. We will beremoving all flowers, wreaths and decorations. Fasting and Abstinence During LENTFasting and Abstinence During LENTAsh Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days offasting and abstinence for Catholics. Fridays during Lent areobligatory days of abstinence.

For members of the Latin Catholic Church (This is the one we belong to!), the norms on fasting areobligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as wellas two smaller meals that together are not equal to the full meal. The norms concerning abstinencefrom meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onward.
