Ponderings of a Parochial Vicar My Dear Parishioners, My Dear Parishioners, I am very excited that we will be celebrating the Feast of St. Domi-nic this year on 7 August 2016. The festivities will commence after the 11:00 Mass (about 12:30) and go until 4:00. This is a wonderful opportunity to have some fun and get to know your fellow parish-ioners better. As a family here at St. Dominic’s, we should build good relationships with those who worship with us. It is good to get to know better those you see each week. As with most activities church related, we are in need of volunteers before during and after the event. Please stop by the tables after Mass to sign-up. This year we will have activities for the children and youth, a beer garden for the adults and many other opportunities for fun and fel-lowship. There are also a couple of surprises for the parish that weekend. Pat Schauffele, Kerry Peetz and their team of volunteers have been working very hard to beatify our campus. They hope to have to wonderful plants, flowers and trees in by the time we have our festival. Take time to “smell the roses” and enjoy the beauty they have added to our church. Please thank them for their hard work. I look forward to seeing you all at our Patron Saint’s Festival. Remember, if you have any questions about our faith, history or the Church, please feel free to send your questions to me at [email protected]. Your servant in Christ, Fr. John

He has his MBA, is an affiliate with the Secular Franciscan Order, is a facilitator for the RCIA, and serves as an usher at St. Dominic. WELCOME OUR NEW YOUTH ACTIVITIES CORRDINATOR

What could I begin to say about myself, aside from the fact that God is so good? My name is Hannah, and I am blessed with the opportunity to share the passionate love for Christ that I have found in the Catholic faith with the youth of this parish. My desire to work with the youth started when I myself attended youth groups and rallies. I cannot help but stand in awe, as God has provided the vocation I have prayed for. My faith has been encouraged and strength-ened through many hobbies, including hik-

ing, dancing, rock climbing, singing, running, and camping. These activi-ties have coincided with the relation-ship I have found with Christ, and I am thrilled to share these experiences (and discover new adventures) with the youth. Words can hardly touch on my enthusiasm to be a part of this wonderful parish, and I pray that, through God and the intercession of Fr. Bill, that the lives of the youth will be enriched in faith, as I know mine will. I am confident that the parish will come together in support of our youth, the future (and present) of our Church, and I look forward to everything God has in store. I know the Lord will work in unexplainable ways, as our group seeks truth and finds a deeper love for the sacraments the Church has to offer. I thank you preemptively for your prayers, service, and support in aid-ing the youth, as we embark on this journey of faith together!

DECLINE TO SIGN FOR PHYSICAN ASSISTED SUICIDE

There are many initiatives that are being considered for the Colorado ballot this November; among them are several concerning the issue of physician assisted suicide. In order for these initiatives to get onto the November ballot supporters will have to collect enough valid signatures. Signature gathers will be out in our communities in full force throughout much of the summer; please be aware of what you are signing and please avoid signing any petition that would put physician assisted suicide on the ballot in November. Physician assisted suicide is a dangerous proposition and we don’t want to legalize it in Colorado.
