Study Ques on for the week: According to James, why should we be quick to hear,

slow to speak and slow to anger?

Last week’s answer: What does the Church teach that the ‘word of God’

refers to ? The Church teaches that the ‘word of God’ refers first and foremost to Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is the Word made flesh (Jn 1:1). Also, God’s word has come to us through the preaching and teaching of Jesus and the Apostles (oral and written); through the inspired writ-ings of the Old Testament; and through God’s own creative word that gave rise to creation (Genesis 1). According to Hebrews 4:12, ‘the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart’.
