A Message from Fr. Jim . . .

October – Mary’s Month

October (along with the month of May) has traditionally been a month to honor our Blessed Mother in a special

way. This past Friday, October 7th, the Church celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. This prayer is at

the heart of our Catholic faith because it helps us meditate on the Joyful Mysteries, the Mysteries of Light, the

Sorrowful Mysteries and the Glorious Mysteries in the lives of Jesus and Mary. The rosary reminds us that

Mary is closely associated as co-worker with Jesus’ redemptive work, because of her preeminent perfection and

because of her intercessory power. She loves and cares for us as Mother. I would like to suggest that we make

an extra effort this month to pray the rosary reflecting on these beautiful mysteries of our faith. Praying the ro-

sary every day is a wonderful chance not only to meditate on these mysteries but also brings some peaceful mo-

ments during the course of a busy day.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!

God bless you always!

Fr. Jim Volkert

This weekend, October 8th & 9th, we are participating

in the Combined Collections: Church in Mission

This appeal helps deliver nourishment—both spiritual and physical—to children and families; seniors and the

homebound; to those who are sick, lonely, suffering and grieving; and to people who have not yet heard or

embraced the word of God. • Catholic Home Missions supports missions in the poorest parishes within the United States, the Caribbean and Pacific territories. Without this support, more than 80 dioceses would be unable to provide basic minis-tries.

• Catholic Relief Services Collection benefits Catholic Relief Services, Migrant and Refugee Services, the Holy Father’s Relief Program, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development

• Church in Central and Eastern Europe funds critical projects for the restoration and renewal of the Church in parts of Europe where it was previously suppressed and persecuted.

• Collection for the Works of the Holy Father: Peter’s Pence assists Pope Francis in his pastoral care of the nearly one billion Catholics worldwide, particularly those living in poor nations or those impacted by war, oppression, natural disaster and disease.

• World Mission Sunday promotes the universal mis-sion of the Church by supporting and sending mission-aries and seeking world peace with justice.

The generosity of the faithful in the Archdiocese of Mil-waukee shows that help truly does come from the Lord through people like you. We hope you will be supportive of these most worthy efforts this year.
