For many years a group of volunteers have made delicious

Christmas Cakes and the sale of these cakes have

supported the work of the F.C.J. Sisters in Romania. The

funds have provided scholarships for young people to

study at University. Also, funds go to the Philippines to

support families, who live near the rubbish dumps, to

educate primary, secondary and tertiary students.

Upon her retirement in 1994 Sister Margaret Mary Kennedy

F.J.C. was requested to go to eastern Europe to establish a

mission there. Sister Margaret Mary worked in Bucharest

for 10 years and was supported by funds from “Friends of

Romania” (See Obituary AGE 8/11/17).

Over 40,00 years ago on the shores of

Lake Mungo (4 hours drive from

Mildura) a ritual burial took place that

was to be discovered by Dr. Jim Bowler

from the Australian National University.

Now the remains are being given due

respect and are being returned from the

University to the land where he was first

buried.

On Friday 17th November members of the mutthi mutthi tribe

have been entrusted with this sacred task.

The Christian Ritual for the occasion prays…

By his death and reappearance, Mungo Man has revealed to us

that deep spirit connection his people had with the earth. It is

repeated today with his Aboriginal Descendants In their

“Connection to Country”. In a striking example of death and the

emergence of Mungo Man, the spirit energies active in this

ritual challenge us to reflect on that other death and

resurrection 36,000 years later.

The nature and occasion of these two deaths were very

significant, although separated by time and place; those events

on the shores of Lake Mungo resonate with those in Jerusalem.
